I was hoping it was gonna be

Hammer Time.....

It is either that or a Mad Men reference, although when introducing him on Chess Thread, I surmised he'd make a good seventies detective.

"Two Springs, Florida, might seem like a peaceful town, but the residents live in fear: crime is round every corner. But crime, too, has a fear...

This...is John Hammer"

Loving the return of the gallery. Two days in and it's like it's never been away.

Thanks, but can you decode the reasoning behind each of the photos?........one or two are a little obscure. Wink

Pretty sure the Road To Amsterdam is a Eurovision reference after Anouk's stunning performance last night. Robin Stjernberg a shocking omission tbh.

Morning Mr T.

Have I got this right? We now get Mr T's write ups and your picture galleries ? Happy days are here again.

It would be nice if Andrew T could follow his conviction on the Euro thread and put a recommend on here for the UK to finish last, 9-1 is available.

George Best after scoring against Benfica in the European cup final is one of the pictures. I have the programme from that match sitting in my kitchen.

Daily Report

MONTHLY LOSS -£171.98

OUTSTANDING BETS £1299.50

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc#gid=24

I have accounted for the "Chelsea to finish outside the top four" bet as a £80 loss.

With one game to go they are three points ahead of the fifth placed team, Spurs, but with a +16 on the goal difference, so even if Spurs win on Sunday and Chelsea lose, Spurs cannot catch them. This bet was crushed by a rare Manchester United insipid capitulation at home to Chelsea a fortnight ago.

Arsenal's 4-1 win last night keeps the "Arsenal to finish top non Manchester club" bet tantalisingly alive, and the improvement in goal difference raises the prospect of a 3rd-4th place play off! (Chelsea 0-0 and Arsenal 2-1 on the final day produces a play-off....)

For now, the thread needs a Arsenal win at Newcastle and for Chelsea not to win at home to Everton, and we should scoop. Chelsea play tonight in Amsterdam. Extra time and Pens would not go amiss

Elsewhere, yesterday saw no other completed bets but positions taken in Test Cricket, Golf, Formula One and the Greyhound Derby

In the shorter term though, its been a while since we had resounding blue ink. We would like some short term winners, as ever, but especially now.

Well fingers crossed, yes, Tighty is helping greatly, so he's doing the Reports & I'm trying to do some, you know, flair stuff.

Did you see that diatribe by Andrew last night on the Eurovision is Dead Thread? He reviewed EVERY song! Poor chap must be traumatised.

George Best, Man U v Benfica, yes, & tonight, having slipped very much under the radar, Benfica take on Chelsea in the Europa League Cup Final.

The whole world will be watching.

Yup, Mr Jol looks to be heading for the exit door. Just as well with his sinus problem.

Wenger was just happy. As always.

The change in responsibility pays dividends already, great writeage Tighty.

I never knew that was such a possibility as a 3rd place play-off in the Premier League.

I liked insipid capitulation. Daily Reports have never seen such flowery prose.

I have limited availability today and the prices aren't up yet on the chess in Norway.

Magnus Carlsen plays the comp's other Norwegian, John Hammer, today.

He is a distant bottom seed, although has managed one scalp so far.

Aronian played him yesterday. The price started (as White) at 1.952 but was 1.7 by the time the clocks were started.

If Carlsen is even money or better today, I would advocate a bet of £30. Colours matter little to Carlsen and there is a standard factor bookies tend to add to mean Black is a bigger price (think of him as a team that has a good away record).

Carlsen has won his last two games, including against the leader, and has closed the gap from two points to ½:

Price will appear here this morning. Leave it alone if it is <2

Thanks Simon.

I'll take a look again a bit later, as the prices are still not up at present.

I've just had a quick look at this and Carlsen is, unfortunately, 1.68.

I was drained after watching that game as a fan.

God only knows what it must take out of a manager.
