Trying to collate today's action, we seem to have, excluding the Golf & Cricket which Tighty summarised last night.......

Warwickshire to beat Northamptonshire, Hit & Giggle Cricket, £40 @ 6/4, starts @ 1pm

German Tennis, Fognini to beat Almagro, £20 @ 6/5

2.05 Newbury, Arsaadi 15/8, £25, Free Bet if 2nd

2.40 Newbury, Royal Empire 13/8, £25, Free Bet if 2nd

3.15 Newbury, Krypton Factor 15/8, £25, Free Bet if 2nd

1.50 Newmarket, Es Que Love 11/4, £25, Free Bet if 2nd

2.25 Walia 2/1, £25, Free Bet if 2nd

Irish Oaks, 6.15pm, Talent, £20 @11/4, money back if second.

Irish Oaks, 6.15pm, Riposte, £20 @ 3/1, money back if 2nd

21.50 Swindon, £10 win Son of Delboy

Tour de France, Quintana, £10 EW @ 33/1

Boxing, £40 @ 7/4, Saunders by Decision over O'Sullivan

Think that is the bulk of it, so there is nearly £300 invested there, plus all the ongoing golf, cycling & cricket investments. Yikes.

The Lords Test

Not sure if this helps us or not, or we can take advantage of it via an opportunistic wager, but in London today, it is heavily overcast, with high humidity, no blue sky, & dark clouds a-plenty.

My source at Lord's tells me it has dropped in temperature markedly in the last hour.

It has dropped 7c, there is a fresh breeze, & the cloud cover has got heavier & darker. Really looks like it will rain.

On Monday is the ONLY derby game in sport: Wigan v St Helens. No it is, seriously:

"The phrase most likely originated from The Derby, a horse race in England, founded by the 12th Earl of Derby in 1780, since at least as early as 1840 'derby' has been used as a noun in English to denote any kind of sporting contest. The current Earl of Derby has confirmed that his family gave their name to only two sporting events; The Horse Race and the Rugby League match between St. Helens and local rivals Wigan."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_derby#Origin

However, before then there's the Warrington v Hull KR match.

Both sides are in form, and should be plenty of points, with Warrington quite rightly placed as firm favourites.  However, I think Hull KR are good value at evens with a 16 point head-start (Coral I think has the best price).  Hull KR have pretty much their strongest side out, and there are a few missing from Warrington (in what is still a very strong team granted) including Myler and Grix who I think will be a miss.

I'd say the game's more of a priority to Rovers than Warrington, who might well rest a couple of players with the CC Semi-final in mind?

Hector and others' thoughts?

My thoughts so far are that this blistering weather has caused points to be reduced significantly, which is good for the teams getting points on the handicap. I am still smarting, however, from Hull KR's 80-4 thrashing at the hands of Wigan when I tipped a Hull KR victory.

In short, I think you are more than capable of choosing Rugby League bets yourself and you can not possibly get it any wronger than I did.

BV are giving money back as a free bet  on outright bets in the World Matchplay if MVG wins. They are also best price on Taylor at 11/4.

Thanks Bazza. I need some more clues though - who do you suggest we back? Taylor?

Doobs is the expert in these things, but the bet sounds good to me.

Sorry, yes back Taylor.
I had been meaning to put this up for the past week.11/4 is good even without the mbs

Back to you then, Mr Kinboshi.

80-4, that milk was well sour......

It was 6-84 Cheesy - but it was a very different Hull KR side to what they have now:
Hull KR: Eden, Brown, Welham, Salter, Latus, Hall, Beharrell, Walker, J. Hodgson, Paea, Horne, Cox, Mika - that was then
Hull KR: Salter, Netherton, Walker, Gleeson, Tuimavave, Cox, Mika, Burns, Horne, Beaumont, Hall, Paea, Hodgson, Lovegrove, Dobson, Withers, Eden, Hepi, Hodgson - that's the 19-man squad for tomorrow.

Talking of howlers, I tipped Catalan to beat a weakened Wigan earlier in the season.  It finished 38-0 to Wigan.

But anyway, I think a 16-point start is plenty for Rovers, so I'm going to say go for it.  Back Rovers at evens to beat Warrington tomorrow with 16pt start.

Presumably he'll be sliding along the baseline in a bathtub soon.

Top work H.

Fingers crossed, be good to book a win early, and knock a few quid off our liabilities.

Morning Mr T.

Having a break from finding things on Pathe news web site I had a look at the tennis.

This morning Fognini plays Almagro in the semi final. He has a 1-3 record versus him but they have not met for 4 years, when Fognini was still maturing, and it is slightly relevant that his win came in the 4th meeting. Looking at their results over the last 2 years against good clay court players it seems that Fognini's record is better. Coupled with his victory in the previous tournament should mean that he was favourite today, but he is not.

Suggest £20 Fognini to beat Almagro @ 6/5 with Ladbrokes.

At the risk of pandering a bit here, don't want to sound like i'm having a go as have happily punted your rugby tips all season.

However I wonder where we are getting the edge in these tennis games?  Is the thinking that the guys setting the prices aren't really looking at previous form, or are misinterpreting it in some way and have a bias towards the better known player?

Hi Trouty,,

"Fred" is the nickname for the thread, & in this case, as the bet is an "Offer", the bet gets credited ("owned by") to the Fred Account, rather than the Tipster.

Thanks for the clarification Tikay.

I've put the same bet on the Irish Oaks - Talent and Riposte, money back if second.
