The rain that was forecast for Tuesday looks like it might arrive as early as Monday lunchtime.  If that's the case, the 10/1 on the draw at the moment looks massive.

Any weather experts about?

Imagine that was quite the sweat watching that race!

Possible five thousandths of one second margin of victory?

Easy.

We have one freebie from today's racing.  I think we should definitely use it on the Open.  We have Adam Scott already, so that leaves one runner at a "backable" price.  So Hunter Mahan it is.  He is 15/2 with Hills which is close enough to Betfair for me to think the bet isn't wasted.  He has won 5 PGA's and was 4th in the US Open, so can't really be lacking in bottle.

We already have one 25/1 shot and a couple of chances for the places, so don't think we need any more outsiders either.

So free £25 bet on Hunter Mahan at 15/2 with Hills.

Let's win this and get the others in the top 8.  Hopefully we have cause to sing Flower of Scotland earlier in the day too.  Think I am an 8th Scottish, and used to be almost neighbours with Andy Murray, so it must be fine.

All aboard, using a Free Bet. Note I still have another £25 Free Bet with Wm Hill. No idea what it is for. Is there any way of checking, online?

We have a £25 FREE BET with Wm Hill, Hunter Mahan @ 15/2.

ON

21 Jul 2013 - 142nd Open Championship - Tournament Winner - Tournament Winner

Hunter Mahan @ 15/2

Stake : £25.00

Estimated Returns : £

187.50

Daily Report

Profit on Month £225.05

Outstanding Bets £1945.6

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&pli=1#gid=27

A successful and busy day yesterday with a profit of £135

Winners

* Son of Delboy won at Swindon, backed by the thead at 7/1 went off at 9/2 and beat an odds on shot + £70

* Warwicks beat Northants at 6/4, making hard work of a low target for a +£60 result

* Saunders in the boxing won on points at 7/4 +£40

* Fognini beat Almagro in the tennis at 6/5 +£24

* Two winners and a 2nd for a free bet in five Horse races for a profit of £15

These were partly offset by a Darts loss, Sujovic losing by 6 legs when we had a 5.5 leg start and Irish Oaks losers

Today is another big day. We start with a positive as Quintana will podium in the Tour De France, the race will produce a £45 profit

In the Open we have Scott, Donaldson, Day and Gallacher and now Mahan via a free bet in the hunt for results for us.

Scott must be in the frame to win it given his consistency and record, but for others it doesn't seem to be the sort of track that someone can shoot 66 from 5 shots back to win it, such is the firmness of the greens.

So it should be advantage the first few in the heap, which I think must be part of the thinking behind Mahan.

Donaldson, an unheralded Welsh player having a really good tournament, is the best each way result if he can make up a couple of places

There are £80 of losses, miracle rounds excepted, to be taken on McDowell, Bradley, Bjorn and Bubba

We have Hull KR later with a 16 point start against Warrington, which feels a bit brave :-)

At Lords England amassed 303-2 yesterday and will have the best part of two days to go 2-0 up. Enter Mr Swann, please though its overcast which will have Anderson animated.

It was fun sweating the various events via this thread yesterday away from the TV!

Great report & Photo Gallery, thanks Rich. Hope things at home are a little better.

What a fun day we had yesterday!

Nearly £400 invested, & we've seen days like that when everything blanks, but hector started the ball rolling early doors, Doobs gave us a ton of sweats, & the winners just kept coming. The greyhound must have won by the shortest of short noses, (28.73 to 28.74) for £70, our Darts bet only just failed, Bazza's boxing bet was never in danger, & the cricket bet, which looked home & hosed after Northants posted a poor total, was a right humdinger, ending with the ball being biffed right out of the ground with 2 balls to spare. Lovely stuff.

This thread delivers so much fun, AND we make a little profit.

What's not to like?

The Open

Today's sweat cliffs are.....

OUTRIGHT

Jason Day £15 e/w at 33/1 (qtr odds, 8 places). Jason is currently +3, two shots behind the top 8.

Jamie Donaldson £10 e/w at 125/1 (qtr odds, 8 places). Jamie is currently +3, two shots behind the top 8.

Adam Scott, £10 EW @ 25/1 (quarter odds 7 places). Adam is level par, 3 shots behind the leader.

Hunter Mahan, £25 Win (FREE BET) @ 15/2. Hunter is -1, two shots behind the Leader, with whom he shares the final pairing.

Top Wee Scottish Person

Steven Gallacher, £10 EW @ 6/1 (qtr odds 1,2,3). Ignoring Sandy Lyle, who is 6 shots off the pace, there are 4 players chasing three places in this, & as Sandy noted, we can scoop or bust here.

Paul Lawrie, +7

Richie Ramsay +9

Steven Gallacher +9

Martin Laird (had a mare yesterday) +9.

We have around £80 of Open Golf bets to write off today, barring miracles, so we need to get £80 out of the bets above. I make us favourites, but a whole day of sweats await.

What fun!

Good luck today to the bicycle bloke in the TdF, Quintana (sp), who was stuck up several months ago by cheapwetsuit, @ 33/1.

The bet was only accepted because cws was a newbie, & we try to give all newbies a free first bet. He got a bit of stick, too, from several, but took it with dignity.

He has turned out to be a top chap, very knowledgeable on bike stuff, & we hope he'll be around for a very long time.

Acknowledging that I've not looked into it in any manner, but on the face of it..

Rafa knows what he is doing in Europe, Reina just signed on loan, cash loaded and will spend (you assume)

Long shot...Napoli @ 50/1 for CL? - e/w to make final?  2nd in Serie A last season

Thoughts?

Agreed a fee for Higuain acc to reports.

Muirfield seems to be playing easier this morning - 4 or 5 players have carded 3 under after 8 or 9 holes.
