Really good research there Mr Sparrow.

So what is the verdict of the experts, and Chompy, on Xinbama?

Wouldn't go overboard, but I wouldn't have him in at 16-1. Nine runners, 16-1 an each-way price, couldn't put you off a fiver each-way. Stick it under Sparrow's name tho. Unless it wins, when I'll take the credit.

5 ew is fine with me, and if it wins chompy can have it, i still owe him from the lingfield tips a few weekends back Smiley

I won poker comp today so who knows, lightning might strike twice and I could pick a winning horse!

Is it worth waiting until 9am tomorrow and getting BOG with laddies or not dithering about?  To be honest i don't see it drifting myelf but their seems to be confidence in the top two in the market so far.  Btw the favourite, never won over course or distance, nor on good to soft, but obviously it's got a decent jockey, good stable etc and is also a lot more unexposed.

Done.

Xinbama, 4.50 Epsom, £5 EW, Ladbrokes, 16/1, one fifth, 1,2,3.

Good luck us.  I thought it had a decent chance for the price, and as none of the elders have rubbished it, it adds to the confidence.  Not sure if its just people from this forum, but it seems to be the second most popular bet on oddschecker according to their racing centre.  I suppose all that means is we won't do our money alone

Bubba on a charge tho

Thanks for the golf updates Doobs. Was hoping to watch it, but a bit of a headache has developed next door, & I've had to don the firefighting gear.

Looks like I am at the final table of your 2nd headache

Ahh, yes, the second headache........

TWO headaches in one night. I thought the first was bad enough, but the 2nd was a 6 Para job.

As stressful evenings go, that was stressful.

Hope you took plenty of Head Prizes. Wink

Err, yes. One of those nights......best say no more.

Even Fred had "one of those days". Everything that could go wrong, did. I bet we blew top side of £200 yesterday, as well as forward damage with stuff like the Pellegrini bet. Tighty's Daily Report will be a thing of beauty.

Man City lose 3-1 to Cardiff, (deservedly) after playing so wonderfully in their previous game?

No safety car at Spa?

The golf, did you ever see such a car crash final 9 holes, & every break went against us?

I actually find such days on Fred, where everything goes tits up, quite interesting, they do not anger me, upset me, or bother me. Gambling exposes our character & soul, more especially when we win big or lose big. Win big, everyone is happy, lose big, & the knee-jerkers arrive in force.

A result went wrong for us a few weeks ago, & someone came on & posted "fuck Blackburn Rovers" or somesuch, and I saw a genius sportsman described here as a fucking clown when his wheels came off. Talking through pockets ftw.

Jeez, I don't like to see that sort of stuff, be it in sports betting, or poker. Part of doing these things well is accepting that it is perfectly standard to lose when we think we should win. It must be horrible not to be able to accept a few reversals without getting all het up. Amateur, too. I don't have much respect for bad losers, truth to tell.

Have you ever wondered how many bets redarmi has every day? He often alludes to his sheer volume. He must back a LOT of losers on the way to earning a nice living from punting, but he just takes it in his stride, as do, it seems to me, all the Pros here. Control of the mind is every bit as important as understanding technical punting strategy.

I'm rambling. Sorry.

Man U v Chelsea, then.

I think at one stage the young fella was 2 clear and I had Rose, Furyk and Bubba all in the places. Then when it started going wrong, someone came on here to tell me I was having a car crash. I think I probably ended up a bit, so no real harm done, just not as well off as I hoped in the end.

Elsewhere "heads must roll" for a mistake in a one off tournament.  These people must be a pleasure to work for in real life, dare say I have worked for a couple like that in the past.

Think there is another tournament next week, wonder if they'll pay 6 places....

Ha! I did smile a little when someone posted that we were all doing our bollocks! Timing & all that......

We can but imagine what it must be for kids like Kevin Chappell. His shot at the big time, TV coverage, huge sponsorship beckons, he'll be made for life. Then it all goes wrong. What MUST he feel? Brutal stuff, being a pro sportsperson.

And yes, heads must roll next door. Absolutely. Someone had a bad day at the office, & failed to tick a few boxes. He must be shot, immediately. One guy who usually complains loudest, longest, & rudest, (though not last night) has never had a job in his life, & lives with his Mum. Truly. Think 2+2 is his Home Page.

Man U v Chelsea, before the regulars here get cross with me for early morning musing.

Daily Report

Profit on the Month £532.74

Outstanding Bets £2577.06

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc#gid=28

A day that promised so much, which at various times held up the prospect of bounteous returns only for those to prove illusory, turned into a day which drooped like hot wax from a candle, with a loss of just under £200

The good news first, Graeme Swann was top Ashes series wicket taker at 11/2 and a return of £132. He ended with 26 wickets, two ahead of his nearest rival. All hail the new drainage systems...reference my post on 24th June highlighting the rationale for the bet

Anyway enough of the good news

At Spa it was dry. On lap 28 of 44 four cars approached the bus stop in close proximity and one was Maldonado. This looked encouraging. Guiteirrez made a mistake, Maldonado mis-judged the braking and harpooned Di Resta onto the kerb. "Yes!" I exclaimed to my living room.  I waited, and then saw the picture of the tow truck lifting Di Resta's car away a couple of minutes later. That was as close as we got to a safety car for -£100, in a bet we took at 10/11 and went off 1/2

In the Golf I was relaxed. After 9 holes Kevin Chappell led by two and Bubba Watson was in an each way spot. Chappell was playing beautifully. He then double bogeyed the 11th and proceeded to drop six more shots on the home stretch. He was not alone as some of the World's best golfers were doing similar. Even Bubba Watson, tied for 6th after 17 and a money-maker for us, made mistakes down the last and ended outside the places

Through the carnage, a man who had received almost no TV coverage, Adam Scott, played the tidiest, with very few mistakes, and scooped the lot. We were left with Furyk dead heating for sixth for +£21 but overall the event was a £110 loser for the thread. I wouldn't have said that two hours earlier

Also in the cricket Clarke finished 37 runs short of Top Australian run scorer in the series. No hard luck stories there really, but it looked good for three tests, and worse at Durham and we were realistic goners before the declaration innings pyrotechnics. The Warner each way bet was never really a runner, and combined the two bets cost £110

At the DW, Middlesborough did not feel the weight of Mr Scotland Spellcheck on their shoulders and went into a 2-1 lead at Wigan, only to be pegged back. Still, the £5 loss was worth it to avoid another Ironside post.

So, onto longer term positions

Vettel won at Spa and is nearly two wins ahead in the points, short odds on to claim his third title and we have £60 on at c 6/4

Watford drew with Forest, two teams that should be top six by the end of the season and the £300 on Watford to finish top half is as near to a sure thing you can get

Cardiff beat Manchester City. Encouraging for the handicap bet that no one will enjoy going to the stadium opposite Les Croupiers this season. Of course the rationale for the Pellegrini bet was sunk like The Bismarck in Montevideo harbour.

Tampa Bay lost to the Yankees in extra innings last night and the Red Sox beat the Dogers 8-1 to go one game ahead again in the AL East.

Coming up......

Nadal plays Harrison in the US Open tennis first round

Manchester United v Chelsea tonight

Spudy will remind us that we are on Napoli

Someone else will tell us we had a nightmare on the Golf

Tighty,

That might just be the greatest Daily Report ever.

We absolutely did our conkers, but I'm laughing my head off here.

An absolutely stunning piece of writing.
