For those hoping for a golf sweat this evening, it kicks off at 8am local, 1pm UK. 

I think Luke Donald needs 5th for a place in the top 30 in the FedEx Cup.  I don't know if that us good or bad.  He should be playing for 5th, but does that mean his nerves go before he gets there??

Charl Schwartzel is 33/1 on Ladbrokes, 31/1 on Betfair, 5 shots back for an absolute punt on the free bet?  Some of us are on already.

I cannot do that Free Bet (Schwarzel) on Ladbrokes, will explain why shortly.

Wm Hill (where we do have a Free Bet available) go 28/1, which is three spots worse than Betfair.

Ladbrokes have written to me & told me I am off their Xmas Card list, & no longer qualify for Bonuses or Concessions. Crucially, this INCLUDES "pending bonuses". The 3 x £25 Free Bets we had earned with them are now no longer available to me. Tighty needs to write these off.  The missive was dated September 11th, but I have only just seen it.

I was first alerted to the problem yesterday, when I tried to place a £220 wager on an NFL Player Prop, & was Restricted to £27.50. for the record, I had a chunky bet on NFL last weekend which won, on a line which they subsequently moved twice.

We must assume I'll be Restricted there in future, though it may take a while to see the extent of it.

Here is the Message they sent me;  


We wish to advise you that we are restructuring our approach to bonuses, concessions, Free Bet refunds and Best Odds Guaranteed.

As a result a number of accounts, including yours, will no longer be eligible for bonuses, concessions, Free Bet refunds or Best Odds Guaranteed of any kind, effective immediately.

This restriction will be included in all future terms and conditions. All other terms and conditions remain the same and we sincerely look forward to your continued custom at Ladbrokes.

Please note any pending bonuses or concessions attached to your account have also been withdrawn.

It was Ladbrokes who reported Ian Black for Gambling to the SFA, seemingly the phoned him and asked if he was Ian Black the Footballer.

I don't plan to make a song & dance about it, life's too short, but it is a bit naughty that if I had not seen that Message (it was NOT by e-Mail, but on their site) I could have continued making those "Offer" bets & would have been in no position to benefit from the Offer.

Anyway, we must move on.

I have "tested" them this morning to see what Level of bet I can now place. They do not have a "MAX BET" button, but there is a way to find it, by FIRST logging into the Site, & THEN clicking through an Oddschecker link to a bet.

So I went to Oddschecker, selected Swansea v Liverpool, & clicked "LIVERPOOL" on the Ladbrokes link. The price was 23/20.

The Max Bet allowed was.....£434.

So we now know they will allow me a bet which WINS up to £500 on a Premier League (= highly traded) game.  Which is not so bad. I'll test the theory on some less liquid markets later. An attempt to bet £220 on something yesteday got slashed to £27.50, so I need to understand how it works.

They did WHAT?

Extraordinary, if true.

I just looked at what they would allow me on that horse in the 4pm Wolverhampton which horsey gave us yesterday.

They have it at 8/1 currently, & my Max Bet was £80.

On the Favourite in the same race, which they list @ 11/4, they would allow me £90.91.

So it seems to be a formula which I can't grasp yet, but it is not a flat £500 winning amount.

Camel will know.......

Anyway, trial & error will be the way.

This was reported by a good scottish footballer journalist last week

Really not sure how that fits in with the data protection act or whatever is relevant in this case
