Woods had a -10 round in the golf to put him in the lead, McDowell  could only manage -5 to leave us a glimmer of hope six shots behind (really needs to throw in a round like Tiger) Speith stays at +5 after a par round.

Aquero and Suarez to score anytime is enhanced with Coral to 3.5, when it would normally be 3.23.

Boxing

Liam Smith v Mark Thompson - A domestic level clash which Smith should win handily enough. However since he has stepped up from fighting journeyman Smith hasn't been able to force a stoppage and only 5 of his 15 wins have been by KO. Thompson has been stopped twice but both his opponents on those occasions were heavier handed than Smith. Recommend £20 on Smith by UD @ 5/2 with Lads.

Thank you Bazza, we are duly on board, as Recommended.

A miracle or two required then!

You never know, but we are not in great shape so far.

Incidentally......

Reference was made earlier in the thread that some payers considered this a "jolly", countered by the fact that the players get $100,000 for showing up, & a mill for winning.

In yesterday's tv coverage, Rory was seen to be escorted during his round, even sharing a buggy with, Caroline Whatsit, his girlfriend. They sat there laughing & joking like a regular & happy couple, & good luck to them.

I thought that was dreadfully unprofessional, & disrespectful to the game of golf. He cannot possibly be 100% focused if he is accompanied by Caroline in such circumstances. It's not disrespectful to punters, as such, as he has no obligation to punters, but it just struck me as an attitude failure on his part. Has that essential hunger to win birdie every hole & win every event now gone?

Deduct two House Points.

What would Boycs say?

Hills doing their channel 4 mobile thing tomorrow.  Suggest Sire De Grugy (7/4) in the Tingle Creek (3pm at Sandown) and Tarquin De Seuil (3/1) in the 1.50pm there.

Make sure you use your mobile to put £25 on each.

Will be there cheering them home.

Enjoy Sandown, David, the weather is mild but heavily overcast at the moment.

I remember to do these via Mobile. Just.

Tarquin is now 11/4 with Wm Hil, which is not best price, Betfair go 3.9, & the bookies vary from 5/2 to 3/1, but given the concession, I think we are just about OK. I hope, anyway. We got the 7/4 for Grugy.

No bets completed yesterday, so as you were

- The Golf has been reported on above. Preparing double red ink for Monday morning

- The cricket was utterly abject, with the exception of Bell (left stranded on 72*), Carberry and the gutsy Panesar. Out-thought, out-fought, out-motivated and out-performed. Not sure anyone saw a hiding on this scale coming. Special ire is reserved for Messrs Root and Pieterson for stunning unprofessionalism in the circumstances when out in horrendous fashion which opened the door for Mitchell Johnson to bowl one of the best fast bowling spells you are ever likely to see.

It then got worse, when Australia chose to bat again and Anderson immediately took two wickets to catch up with Broad, our one potential saviour in several Ashes bets (Cook, Bell two centuries, double century in the series) that look as likely to scoop as tikay is to win "flat cap wearer of the year"

Anyway, currently

Broad 11
Anderson 5
Swann 4

So we may escape yet from the Ashes Group of death that we seem to be in

- The World Cup draw saw England get a tough draw for next Summer and go all the way out to 40/1 to win which rather scuppers hopes of laying our position for now. William Hill opened at 11/4 England not to qualify from their group.Half an hour later that was 10/11.

Today a full schedule. Derby beating Blackpool would be nice. Suarez at home to West Ham might be worth watching. Strictly swingathon tonight is fraught with peril for us I expect. tikay can tell you all about that

Thanks Rich.

Jeez, I wish we'd seen that, what a bet that would have been!

Moring all,

Womens downhill at Lake Louise.

http://www.oddschecker.com/winter-sports/alpine-skiing/womens-alpine:-lake-louise-downhill-event-1/winner

Maria Hofl-Riesch 5/1 with Spoilsports. Worth up to £10 EW IMO.

Sorry bit rushed, explain later.

Crikey, that soon disappeared - 3/1 now!

Thanks Tonji, & it'd be good to have some more snowysports stuff, but I assume 3/1 is no good if the suggestion was 5/1.

Spoilsports were slow in adjusting. But quick to move when my tenner went on! 3/1 is now in line.

Lindasy Vonn is back, but missed the final training run. She has an awesome record, but has just returned from injury, so doubts remain over her full fitness. Media reports suggest her knee is still strapped & her focus naturally will be the Olympics 2014.

Lara Gut looks to be a touch off the pace on the time sheets, the cold icy conditions & not so fast course don’t seem to be to her liking.

Maria Höfl-Riesch has been at the top of the time sheets in training: “The freezing conditions aren't too bad for me”, said Höfl-Riesch. “As a matter of fact, cold and aggressive snow suits my skiing quite well. The level of concentration going down is so high that we don't have the time to get disturbed by the cold.”
“I've always had good feelings here and felt comfortable on this course. I really like the hill. I'm now looking forward to the three upcoming races.”

A consistent racer, she’s a past winner at Lake Louise, & looks to have found some top form of 2010.

Maria fulfilled here promise.

Another downhill race today, but she'll likely be priced odds on.

warnock just announced on radio not taken wednesday job

...but I hear that Uwe Rosler will leave Brentford & take up the Wigan post. He did a wonderful job at Griffin Park, & will be a tough act to follow.

Slightly disappointed by this news as was hoping we might consider him for the Barnsley job if we looked externally.  Will be a good appointment for Wigan, I believe, and he has the makings of being a top manager.

I actually doubt he would take the Barnsley job anyway. As horseplayer said, Brentford are pretty progressive right now with a fairly sizeable budget and, touch wood, a new stadium on the way. Got a good young squad and based in London which is an attractive city for players even if Brentford isn't itself. It might be wishful thinking but I think over the next 2 or 3 years the Brentford job would be a more attractive proposition than the Barnsley gig.

I've been a Brentford fan for 18 years and this is by far the most optimistic time in those 18 years.

Regarding Rosler, like every relatively young manager he has made his mistakes. However, he is a quick learner and works through the mistakes to find better methods and tactics which is all you can really ask. Wigan makes sense as his family is still in the North West and he should do a good job there.

That was my gut reaction, too, not so much Barnsley my consider him, as he may not consider Barnsley. I think he has a decent future, but he needs to pick his spots with care at this stage of his career.

Great stuff Tonji!

Shame we missed the price. I was on the case VERY quickly, but it had gone from 5/1 to 3/1 by then, & it felt wrong to take a price so much shorter than the recommend. Shame really, I could have stolen thought of that bet for my weekly UKPC Update.

Well done, great spot. Snowysports specialist, eh?

Innit marvellous though?

6/5 about a 4/6 shot who traded super short IR...and nothing done!

Didn't win as it happens but perfect for trading shizzle.

I tried to help. Keep posting please !!

You did indeed, & I saw your Post, but I just have a bit of a blind spot, phobia even, with this sort of stuff, & have to be dragged screaming & kicking. It's just fear of the unknown really, I have not really got a full grasp of it all. I'm glad it was profitable though, & cross with myself that I never did it.
