Man United can be backed at 18/1 to win the premier league outright. 8 points adrift (however a possible 10 should Arsenal win tonight). There's been word of Man U spending during the upcoming transfer window - this coupled with Arsenal / Liverpools possible and probable inability to maintain their current standard in comparison to the workhorse which is Manchester United.

Moyes seems a lot more confident recently and as was recently said; 'maybe the bad times are behind us'. The team is also seemingly coming together nicely with the introduction of Januzi into the starting 11. With a couple of world class additions in areas they are struggling, they could become possible contenders again.

The obvious worry would be city who have a squad which is near being a class apart from any other in the leauge at the minute, however with their shaky away form - who knows.

I'm not for one second suggesting United can/will win the leauge at the minute, however can we not back with a view to laying when they inevitably (in my novice opinion) become a much shorter price - particularly if the transfer window / few results after are successes. (This has probably already been talked about and either dismissed or punted, however it just occurred to me whilst lazily browsing)!

Anyway if if hasn't been discussed its out there for discussion now!

Happy to discuss, as always.

We need to separate fact from fiction & hype, though.

Statements such as 'maybe the bad times are behind us' by Mr Moyes (of whom I am an admirer, incidentally) are completely irrelevant in these musings. It's just background noise, chaff, blather.

What would we expect him to say? I think we will struggle to get a CL spot this season, we are not very good"?

But yes, worth some thought.

....such as anything can be standard @ Cardiff City these days.

I read in "The Game" in today's Times that Bellamy was offered the Manager's role last week, & turned it down. You reckon there is any truth in that? He'd obviously decline, loyalty to MM of course, but do you think he was offered the role? If so, incredible that MM tolerated being so undermined.

My thoughts exactly, so I'm not sure I buy the story.

Someone put Barkley up a month or so ago after an Englsnd game when he was 2/1 in one place, can't see how it is a bet now. Manchester United bet is no good either, they was 22-1 with same gap not long ago, which I took.

In other news the Blackburn bet is looking decent, price getting smaller, sometimes I do talk sense, and 1 in 50 bets I post is pretty decent Cheesy. It does frustrate me though having the one of my biggest win singles backing a team that my own team is playing Sad

It has absolutely tipped down with rain all day in London, John.

Be a shame if it does not go ahead, it would have been one of the biggest betting events of the football season, & the bookies will be hoping to recoup some of yesterday's whopping losses. I hear Camel feels very bad for their plight, especially as the Festive season approaches.

...and imagine how many £100,000 bets Ladbrokes would have taken?
