Anyone see the last at Newbury? Is my racing post app playing up or were the distances really 31 lengths, 24 lengths and 30 lengths?

Here you go, Karabiner.

Chatting with a perfectly amiable fellow at my starting table of this evening's 'let's see if we can win something' poker comp. We discuss the darts that's on the telly and he tells me he makes a few quid punting on sports. He then proceeds to tell me after a little natter back and forth that he has a certain tip for tomorrow's horses. "It's definitely going to win"

I'm waiting for the streamers and balloons because I believe that is the one millionth time I've heard that expression.

Nevertheless, this might be "the one", so I invite further discussion.

Chappie can't remember the name of the horse.

Or the race.

This is going to take some exploration, but I enjoy the thrill of the chase and it's not like I play any hands. Racing post app open, I whittle down the meeting with him. I'm hoping for somewhere random, but we are going with Chepstow. Ok. Plenty of smaller races there, I suppose.

"It starts with a V", he helpfully proffers, before adding "It's about 14/1"

Eventually, we get there: Vintage Star. That'll be in the Welsh National, then.

We will have to wait for a million and one, I guess...

I would hardly call it a tip, although the fact I don't fancy it is seen by some as a positive Smiley

That's a relief.

I was worried that it might have been my pin's selection Tour Des Champs.

You're welcome. It was more a case of sharing the story than the tip. Passed the time between folds.

Wtf?  You didn't back it?

You are right next to Kinboshi in the hall of shame in my view.

Got a good run mind.

And stop being a wind up merchant. Have arsenal lost yet?

Shame on those that wrote him off!!!!

Didn't write him off just repeated what his jockey had said.

Got to love the horse's attitude.
