I read this morning that in ten years of Murrayfield Calcutta Cup Matches, one try TOTAL has been scored, and that was a charge down!

The pitch is soggy, and notoriously loose too (going to a hybrid pitch next year). Rob Swindells' bet was Scotland +10. I think you get more bang for your buck with Eng 1-12 at 13/8, though you lose the possibility of a Scotland win

If you choose one of my three, this would be it

I mentioned earlier in the week a Paddy Power offer, where a £5 racing bet on Saturday gets you a £5 free bet on the Cheltenham festival.

Worth adding to the portfolio if Fred can still qualify for the offer

IIRC just one bet each Saturday between now and then

In the BDO darts today I think we have a match priced on reputation rather than form. Scott Mitchell had a couple of 88 averages at the Lakeside, nothing spectacular but a vast improvement in anything he has shown there in the past. In the first round here he averaged just shy of 97 (under no pressure admittedly) which was the best part of 10 points higher than today's opponent Daryl Fitton managed. Fitton also went out in the 1st round at the Lakeside. 5/4 Mitchell here looks good to me. Recommend £40.

I'm sure the good people of Worcester feel like they have had enough rain, and all those sandbags and ruined carpets look no fun at all...wouldn't mind one more night of misery though.

He Fred/Freddies,

Its Scottish Cup day up in Scotchland and there are quite a few shorties on the card that I think could be worth opposing.

I am tempted to put up Aberdeen on the basis that I don't think this Celtic team is as good as previous years but they just seem to keep winning and have been scoring goals despite having their worse strikeforce in my living memory and I remember going to watch Wayne Biggins and Tony Cascarino.  So I'll leave that one alone.

One team I am very interested in going against is Inverness Caledonan Thistle.  Its a tricky trip driving from Inverness to Stranraer and conditions have been pretty poor up here and I expect that conditions at Stair park will be even worse given ist close proximity to the see and the general lack of cover the pitch will get from the elements.  Stranraer have been one of the better sides in the 2nd division this year.  Although the quality isn't great they have also shown recently that playing in front of a big crowd doesn't scare them when they went to Ibrox and managed a 1 -1 draw.

I also remember them making life very difficult for Celtic not so long ago in a Scottish Cup tie at Stair Park.  If the game is tight throughout I wouldn't be surprised to see them play for the draw and get a replay with the possibility of getting a televised game if it goes back to Inverness.

Either way I think the price on ICT is on the slim side and would be a layer if we can get matched for a few quid at around 1.44 if we stick up a lay of £57 it gives us a liability of just over £25.08.

The other game I like is taking Hibs to win to nil - i really couldnt have Hibs as 1/2 against many teams even with Terry Butcher having done fairly well since he took over.  Raith have had an average season but there big issue has been scoring goals and they are fairly low in confidence.  a quick look at recent stats shows us they haven't scored a goal in any game since December.  But what worries me is they have played against teams in that period who ship goals left right and centre.   The standout price on this is Spreadex at 5/4 but checking odds checker  there are only 3 books offerring this market.  I was disappointed to see this was not on offer with Betfair as generally its a good place to start.

Good spot Tal, many will appreciate it, though Fred is, with Mr Power, decidedly persona non grata.

There, a little Latin, to please Methuselah, who boasts O Level Latin.

An entry level one, too! Not even Wartortle or Blastoise! (A cousin was into them when he was little. I helped him learn the 150 pokemon that were around at that time. Some of the mid stuck!)

Thanks Bazza.

Remarkably, Mr Power allowed us the full £40 @ 5/4, so we are all set,

£40 @ 5/4, Scott Mitchell to beat Darryl Fitton, Paddy Power, bazzaboy.

That price seems to have tightened considerably, (approx.) 11/8 best now, which is some way south of 13/8.

http://www.oddschecker.com/rugby-union/six-nations/scotland-v-england/winning-margin

We can, however, get Scotland +10 @ Evens, which, I think, was Rob S's suggestion.

http://www.oddschecker.com/rugby-union/six-nations/scotland-v-england/handicaps

Given the revised prices, what would you suggest now?

I've no idea what all this pokeman stuff means, but jeez, 3-0 Liverpool after 17 minutes is not pretty reading.

Ugh.
