Whatever happened to Hills Priority prices, last one I remember was England to win tge Ashes in the Summer, they had loads for Cheltenham last year.

I think the "Money back as Free Bet if 2nd", which WH have for the whole Cheltenham Meet, every race, is pretty good, actually.

Gives us total control as to what we bet, too, unlike "3/1 MTOY" or whatever.

You mean I shouldn't just pick the favourite? I am going to have to start work on a plan B.  Might have to put it in action on the Champion Hurdle, they aren't really big enough on The Fly yet.

Might have to be quick on this one.  Some punter on betfair is looking for 4.4 on rangers to win the Scottish FA cup.  Don't really understand the price at all given how badly they played yday v albion.  Assuming they beat Albion in the replay it makes them roughly 50/50 to win both the semi and final against teams in the top 4 of the SPL.  Can't have a team as a flip in two games to beat teams in the top 4 of a league two leagues above rangers.

Rangers have Dundee Utd in semis then Aberdeen or St Johnstone in the final.  I just think this has to be a price based on the Rangers badge on the shirt rather than the actual quality of the team Rangers have.  Every firm in the world is happy to lay 7/2 and vcbet at 4/1 so laying 4.4 seems plenty of value.  There is roughly £100 available to lay at 4.4.  I have personally laid plenty at 3.9 and 3.95 already on the market and i am 'full' so to speak.  I would recommend laying up to £100 or whatever is available on the machine at 4.4.  Whatever suits the bankroll as it will involve locking up some cash for up to 2 months.

Coral gone 9/2 as i speak rangers.

Cheltenham going will be good to soft. Close but no cigar, but the cover bet means we'll chisel out a few quid on the market.

Boyles go 7/2 for Vautour to win the Supreme Novices.

3/1 best elsewhere.

(Thinly veiled having a functioning boyles account brag)

5.1 betfair.

And that, Ladies and Gentlemen is what it takes to have a functioning Boyles account........

In an attempt to salvage some comparative pride, I think it's time I shared this with you (a kind of In Case of Emergency anecdote). I have to warn you it doesn't include any poker tournament victories, though.

Chap at work enjoys a bet here and there; just fivers and weekend accas on the football. I was discussing a race with him a few months back.

I had a tip for a horse and told this chap about it. He asked whether to have it each way. I said not to bother, as there are only 7 runners. He says "No. There's nine"

"Nine?!"

"Yeah the two outsiders are 'unnamed favourite' and 'unnamed second favourite'"

Only a huge amount of luck and dodgy Refs gives them a chance of winning the Scottish Cup, they have had a great draw and struggled against the only side in a division above them.
Hopefully they beat Albion Rovers in the replay as I think the bookies are going to make them slight favs against Dundee Utd.

Afternoon all.

A quick post as knackered. A few handicap snippets.

Cantlow @14s 888 first 5 looks v big, if you can get a bit on. Also amuses me to see Time for Rupert at 16s. Course and distance form and 5th in a Gold Cup, ground coming into his favour, just seems way too big when I look at some of those above him in the handicap and shorter prices.

Not a handicap but I like the 10s 1,2,3 for Doyly Carte w/o Quevega and Cockney Sparrow in the Mares

Finally have been on Manyrivers for a while, but cant resist getting stuck into Close House in the finale. Runs well round Cheltenham and form behind Tarquin de Sueil and Oscar Whiskey looks v good here. At 16s generally I wouldn't put anyone off.

I may have to eat a fair chunk of humble pie tomorrow if things go well, as Choc is on several of my fancies.....Heaven help me!!

Yesterday I bet on the Ladbrokes lock in. I wrote my slip out as below

Supreme Novices

Wicklow Brave

£50

I then went to the next shop to do the same bet again. When I got there the manager was on the phone. She said to me have you just had a bet at Station Street I said yes. She said the cashier wants to know if it is a double.
I said there is only one horse on the slip. Apparently she thought Supreme Novices was a horse.

Comical beyond belief but not at all surprising.  Twenty years ago this would literally have been impossible to happen.  Sadly the betting shop staff now literally couldn't give a toss.

Out of interest what did they boost it to?
