BBC:

Alan Pardew will remain as the manager of Newcastle United, according to the minutes of a fans' forum meeting released by the club

How is this news? That the club are pretending to communicate with fans?

The same fans forum they stopped doing when they didn't like some questions?

I think Mr Posh Bloke was just being a little ironic as to fans running football.

I'd like add my own views, but I fear that football fans generally might not share my views, and might even get a little uppity. I am, as you may already know, quite an admirer of Mr Ashley.

It is also funny how the news that someone on a long term contract is staying in their job is breaking news.

I heard someone bemoaning that Mr Pardew did not have the decency to resign, though I can't think of a single credible reason why someone with a long-term and doubtless lucrative contract should. But to NUFC fans, it's all a little sensitive, and maybe we should not incur the wrath of Mully and Mondy.

Weathers been much better, I see.

Any thoughts on Benfica each way?

With Totesport, 1/2 odds, top 2. The rest are 1/3 of the odds.

All about Benfica tonight Wink

Break that curse.

Good luck Mr ( or is it Mrs?) Exstream, may the best team win.

Ahh, thank you. Pretty sure exstream's e-addy used to include a female forename (Jean?), though I may, unsurprisingly, be wrong.

Think I know less about Exstream than any other Fred regular, even though he has been here a very long time.

Agree as to first sentence. Has a very individual style of posting, no puff or fluff, just a quick in and out jobbie.

Hopefully, much more to come.

By chance, I was reading some of your contributions on NPF this morning. Are you going to purchase NPF?

Quite so. Not always wise to be jocular about football when discussing it with disgruntled fans.

This should provide a neat distraction: puma's world cup special edition boots, which its sponsored players will be rolling around in this summer:

I can understand footballers being bad actors but how can they be bad at acting about being footballers?

A bit of a value banzai in the european golf this week.

Fabrizio Zanotti came 3rd last week in Portugal and has been scoring fairly steadily through the early season with just the odd bad round / blip back in March. The tournament this week returns to catalunya where it was last held in 2009. Zanotti was 2nd then to Thomas Levet and only 2 shots off the pace. Combine his course knowledge and course form with recent form and good scoring and a not too strong a field this week and 80/1 looks good to me. Boilsorts are offering money back if 2nd to Garcia too. Paddy offering 6 places but only 66/1.

Suggest £5ew Zanotti Open de Espana 80/1 Boilsorts.

I have also backed Cabrera-bello for similar reasons of recent form and course and distance form. He represents some value at 35/1 but nowhere near the value 80/1 Zanotti offers.

Ps. Didnt get a polite rebuff on this

Apologies Mr Hill the Younger, I have been offline most of today, and wrongly assumed Tighty was looking after the shop.

I am just preparing my evening meal ( all three courses) but I will take a look after.

Note Fred cannot get on with Boilsorts, the account got closed by them long ago.

Because the world's most explosive car racing series needs to sound like (to use a Clarksonism) the Norse God Thor gargling hammers, the teams have had to consider making the 1.6 turbocharged V6 engines sound like they are really fire-breathing W12 snort-thrusters. Mercedes tried this today (and for those who don't follow f1, this is not a joke):

Its purpose is purely to "improve" how the exhaust sounds. That's it.

Anyone else think of Edith's mother in Allo Allo, clutching the trumpet to her ear?

My guess is that the limit will be £10 on each.

Can we get on these please Tikay.
