Tighty, talking of edges, seems like a pretty decent edge can be had on NFL. Followed your suggestions from Betpal which made watching last night a whole lot more enjoyable - thanks.

Not just in the obvious stuff, either, Simon. Fred has had NFL winners on which team kicks off, what type of microphone Madonna will wear and whether any member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be topless.

Think we even had which colour ensemble some long-forgoten trollope would wear in the Super Bowl half-time Show, & one we seem to do every year, the length of the National Anthem thing.

And to think my introduction to "betting" was these.....

came across this from mark langdon

"Teams who had to do the Europe>weekend PL>midweek PL>weekend PL did terribly at weekend. P6 W1 (and that was against fellow Uefa entrant)."

something to watch for future premier league weekends? might have missed the boat if most of our champions league teams go out imminently, but its an interesting small sample nugget i thought

"Mark Langdon ‏@marklangdon

Spurs have got to do that same Thurs-Sun-Weds-Sat 2day rest period again so probably best not get involved at short prices v Burnley on 20th"

I was thinking, with our dramatically good run on miscellaneous bets, that reality tv and the like must be one of the places where the best edge remains, where prices can be very wrong, views can be taken and traded. As a reminder, the big Doobs position on Fleur was backed at odds of 34.44

+1 to that.

I've no idea what that means, obv, but it sounds good.

Biggest buzz ever. Think I was Vernons (think Robert Sangster owned them), & Littlewoods, perm 8 from 11.

Saturday at 5pm, Sports Report on the Light Programme, listening to the results with coupon in sweaty hand, wonderful memories.

Before doing my Pools Coupon, I used to get & study a weekly letter, it was a sort of Tipping Service which had this "Infra Draw" method, from a man named Horace Batchelor who advertised on Radio Luxembourg (208 metres, Medium Wave).

Horace was from Keynsham, near Bristol.

That's K-E-Y-N-S-H-A-M.

His adverts were featured on "Teen & Twenty Disc Club" on 208, hosted by none other than Jimmy Savile.

OK, back to business, before I get in trouble.

Here's Dear Horace. He ended up as a bit of a recluse, but became quite a wealthy man I believe.

I found it fascinating growing up.

As James Alexander Gordon (?) read the results out, with his climbing intonation for away wins and falling tones for home wins, I was curious as to what the points meant on the right hand side of the screen and how you got, say, 28 points for the prize.

Great fun.

A good start would be by not picking Rangers to draw with Third Lanark as the punter has done in the picture.

You can tell it's an old picture because they've marked spurs to draw at Man City, too.

Funny what's become of both those clubs.

Views on tonight's nefflage?

As highlighted in this very entertaining and stat-quenching article (http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24873157/falcons-packers-preview-14-things-to-know-about-week-14s-mnf-game?v=1&vc=1) there is nothing whatsoever to suggest this will be anything other than a comfortable win for the Packers, that the real comeback player of the year will be under no pressure whatsoever to pick his targets and that Samuel L Jackson and the good people at Home Depot will be leaving Wisconsin disappointed and cold.

So, what are we going to do about that?

BMU has decided it wants to take some money on over 4.5 sacks (a standout price at 6/5), and, in a game featuring a team with only 15 all season, I can see why.

The Packers have been susceptible to elite WRs this season and the Falcons have one in Julio Jones. His line for receiving yards is monstrous, in the mid eighties. Even with number two, Roddy White back to deflect some of the attention, I'd want to oppose those numbers. He will have to have a better night than the Falcons offensive line Will allow to be fancied to get there, short of a big play somewhere.

Chorals will give you 20/23 for less than 90.5 receiving yards for Mr Jones and I think that's worth taking.

Thoughts?

Ive gone for Steven Jackson U52.5 rushing, he averages 50.1yds per game inc a 100 yard game last week vs ari. In losses he averages 38y/g and in games where they have lost by 10 or more 35y/g (line tonight is GB -13). I am like you assuming this is going to be a comfortable win for GB and Atlanta are gona have to throw the ball alot in the second half.

Fair to say that did not go well! I was due one of those I suppose.

Line was 55, I believe.
