What is "face-guarding"?

Why is it permitted in College Football, but not NFL?

What is "face-guarding"?

Why is it permitted in College Football, but not NFL?

"Face guarding is defined almost exactly how it sounds. It happens when a defender deliberately gets impedes the line of vision of the player he’s defending but does not make contact with him. Pass interference is when a defender makes contact with a player that impedes a catch but does so in a manner where no play on the ball was made."

this is a good explanation of the controversy

http://fansided.com/2015/01/04/face-guarding/

for the record, there was clearly contact and it wasn't face-guarding!

Wizwig closed down?

Interesting debate on the matter, here.....

Excuse my ignorance, but I don't quite get all this - surely these "pirated" streams amount to theft, no?

Just proves that no matter how many officials there are, they can still, & quite innocently, make mistakes, even when reviewed.

No worries, one of those things, I think we've missed the boat now.

It was posted on Fred, & I imagine everyone had a chance to get on, & I hope some did. Fred missed out, but that does not matter. We are bound to miss a few, & we don't have a rear-view mirror.

Good luck to those who got on though, especially Mondy.

Why is Dennis Wise not on that list?

Has Tighty's account been hacked by the same people that do North Korea's propaganda?

I reckon we could have got at least two pages out of discussing that Dallas game and NFL officiating in general so it's a pity no hand wringing allowed (do I need to add a smiley face here or not) :-)

Just to put it into context Tony for people that don't follow NFL if that kind of officiating mistake had been made against Chelsea Mourinho would still have been complaining about it in 5 years time. It was the equivalent of a player blatantly handling the ball on the line and the ref giving a penalty only for the linesman to get involved and say he thought it hit him elsewhere even tho he has the worst view. The crew seemed to have decided to take another free look at it on the replays on the stadium screen and then bottled it. Des Bryant was wondering around the pitch without his helmet even tho the Dallas O were on the sidelines which is another penalty too.

It was such a bad way to change a game that Sony could even make a film about it called 'The Interference'. that's how distasteful it was( unless you are an over the moon Dallas fan)

If it had been Prem soccer it's the kind of thing Sky news show for 4 days on the trot, with rolling banners too. Actually make that 7 days.

( I might have exaggerated some of this just to balance the pro Dallas crew) :-) (just in case)

Anyway, I'm quite surprised to see Carolina are getting 11.5 start away to Seattle next week, obv Seattle's D has been incredible in the last 5-6 weeks but they have played some poor O's in that span of games. Teams that have a good D and a decent running game to keep the clock going, are getting a lot of points on the Hcap and might only need to score 13 or 14 points to cover always attract my punting money.

Any thoughts from the fellow Neffle punters?

Yeah, in my experience, Teams very rarely cover an 11 or 12 point spread.

I think we should load up on one of them. If only I knew which one.

Tighty's account? Seems to me he was so busy boom-booming & ****-****ing (I can barely bring myself to type such a word) we need to give him a warning.

If you think boom boom f******erty **** **** deserves a warning you would have had to close T'internet and T'Twitter would have crashed if the call had gone against Dallas. I'm sure we would then have got a load of links to obscure articles written by pro Detroit minds saying how it was all quite fine n dandy.

If you want to bet plus 11 1/2 I looks likely to settle around the 11 or maybe 10 1/2 mark IMO.

i thought i was very balanced

it was a bad bad call, but i don't think it decided the game. plenty of other things did

anyway, mr smiley man, i like carolina and baltimore with the points on the spread

baltimore +7 with their pass rush and run game have a shot in new england. new england's pass protection is their weakness

i don't have the same view on Indy in Denver.

Dallas at Green Bay i will leave, need to speak to the boss, Kim Jong Un, about what fix he has in play with the officials
