Annoying that we get the nut worst commentators...

'He has hit that TOO well'  How can you hit a ball too well and be out of position.  Must mean you didn't hit it that well?  So tilting when these two keep asking this.

'Where's the white ball going? Where is the white ball going?'

I've watched the whole thing on Eurosport, it is, to my mind, so much better as to commentary.

I cba with all those twee interviews & chats on BBC, either. I like Steve, John, Ken & Hazel, no prob with them at all, but this is quality snooker, we don't need all that blather & chaff.

They'll have that Gok Swan bloke on next, fawning over everyone. Oh, I love you all.

McManus and Hendry are both good, too.

I'm not quite as much a purist, so don't mind the little bits during the intervals.

Surprised Willie does the daytime session, unless he is trying to curtail his punting a bit.

Yeah, was plotted up in the local Ladbrokes for most of the Friday morning, when he came down to do an exhibition for my old man, back in the 90s.

One of the members had a big guesthouse built just out of town, he had bought one of dad's tables for his 'games/bar area', so dad arranged for him to stay out there, rather than a hotel.

I was only a nipper then, so didn't do the exhibition, but he told the old man to take me and my brother out to see him on the Saturday afternoon.

Fair play to him, he was plotted up watching the footy/racing, and still managed to drag himself away from the TV to have a couple frames with us Cheesy

My Misses is a loud Geordie and hates me watching the snooker.  Last year at the crucible Willie was playing with his new ultra slow motion camera.

Must have been a flip whether he got a 147 in those 2 frames!!!  He had at least one every day in Practice throughout the 1980s if you beleive willie!

Maybe he meant the line-up Smiley

Good job Tikay isn't watching BBC2, because he'd be doing his nut at this little segment.

Afternoon Tighty.

I have been mulling over our Root batting conundrum for a while. I don't have a definitive answer for you but these are my thoughts. I would make Ballance favourite in the 1st innings bat market at 3's, followed by Cook and Root at 7-2, Bell @ 4's and Trott 5's. If I didn't have a position on Root for the tournament then Ballance @ 5's would be a good bet for this match. I looked at the last 6 tests at Barbados and it doesn't appear to be a batting paradise though that picture you sent me does make it look a decent track.

Whether you want to back Ballance as a hedge is up to you. Not sure that I am sharp enough to know the best approach.

this is what i sent hector yesterday

Root

35 runs ahead of Ballance going into Barbados

2 horse race

The pitch looks like a batting paradise. not a blade of grass.

we have £20 root top series bat at 4-1

ballance is 9/2 top bat for the first innings and obviously bats above root (which gave him the extra inning in grenada over root which might cost us)

prudent to have £20 on ballance at 9/2?.....

england win toss and bat, ballance gets first chance

might only bat once in the game too

we might lose both bets, but would be unlucky to lose root if ballance fails, and if ballance scores heavily then 9/2 (bigger price than cook, trott, root, bell ) looks a good punting price to me

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/west-indies-v-england/tests/top-england-batsman

prices all down at the mo but 9/2 generally earlier cook 7/2 root 4/1 trott 4/1 bell 4/1

two more

http://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl-specials/nfl-draft/1st-offensive-tackle-drafted

la-el collins likely won't be drafted high, as of tuesday he is wanted for questioning (not as a suspect as far as we know) by police/paternity tests over a 2 year old child in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend and had to leave chicago/the draft yesterday

teams can't get the necessary info in time to pick him high with the multi million dollar commitment this implies

yet uk markets are unchanged he's still in at 3rd favourite

browsing sites/twitter every single giants beat writer says they are picking ereck flowers over brandon scherff at number 9

does a team take an OL above 9? maybe but really only washington at 5 might

i can only get £1.67 on at laddies for tikay at 6-1 so left it, but if you can get on then go ahead

--

top cornerback

waynes has been as short as 1/6 but his natural landing place is the vikings at 11. their gm rick spielman is on record as wanting to trade down. there is also some talk that waynes isn't the consensus top player either at his position

kevin johnson is talented and coveted by plenty of teams from pick 15 onwards, yet he's 10-1 in stale markets

http://www.oddschecker.com/american-football/nfl-specials/nfl-draft/1st-cornerback-drafted

johnson is a safer pick than byron jones...this chatter talks the issues

"Byron Jones of UConn also, like Perriman, saw his stock tremendously rise after a jaw-dropping NFL Combine performance. But, again, not every team feels he’s a top-20 pick, and more than few feel he’d be better at safety (which I agree with). If Kevin Johnson isn’t there, the Steelers likely have interest. The Cardinals, Colts and Packers all still may take him, but it wouldn’t totally shock me if he fell out of the first-round. The Vikings could be a suitor to trade back into the first-round, something GM Rick Speilman is never afraid to do."

http://optimumscouting.com/draft/state-of-the-draft-raiders-49ers-trade-trade-talk-player-team-fits-and-much-more.html

------------

slight disclaimer: small stakes stuff please and eyes open, plenty of stuff flies around on the day of the draft but i am pretty certain I will be filtering it better than uk books who aren't moving any prices...

Have corals just put the markets up tightly? They have Flowers at 10/1 and Kevin Johnson 16/1, these are the 2 your talking about,  correct?

9/2 ballance for first innings looks a good bet regardless of the root position. they seem to price all 5 of englands batsman up at around the same price, when you wouldn't be keen on either of the openers currently. obviously hoping for a big balance score kills rooty bet off though :-( did you do jimmy top wickets bet also? sure i read it on here. i have that in the running also, talk of resting jimmy for the 3rd test is trying my patience!
