not for this team a flight from one end of the country to another

its an eight hour coach trip
whilst i have no knowledge about either team that you don't have i was surprised you could get nearly even money on the home team
would anyone factor in a journey of this sort into their thinking on a lower league game like this?

It's a good point.  The best book about football betting I ever read by Geoff Harvey cited Plymouth as being the worst place to travel to for an away game in the whole of the UK.  Having driven there myself I whole heartedly agree Smiley

I don't think that will be factored into the betting as much as it should be.  Where are they playing at the weekend?  If they are away again that is potentially an even better bet?

Carlisle are at home this weekend, to Wmbledon

the fixture computer can be very tough...programme in the long journeys for saturdays? Apparently not. Carlisle began the season at Mansfield at a weekend and get Plymouth on a tuesday

It is an incredibly tough journey hitting all the worse motorways outside of the m25.  Probably hit b'ham M6 lunchtime then Bristol m5 just before rush hour.  Impossible to plan for the journey time wise.  Surprised the league let them travel it the same day tbh.  Could easily turn into a 15+ hour single trip there today with bad traffic/accidents.

In league two tonight, Carlisle are at Plymouth

So what, i hear you cry.....

well in ten league games lifetime at Plymouth, Carlisle have one point

So what, i hear you cry...

well money is tight in league two

not for this team a flight from one end of the country to another

its an eight hour coach trip

currently, this is the scene from the team coach five and a half hours into this trip

no rest up for the afternoon in a hotel, its off the coach at 6pm, shake the legs off, play the game and back tonight overnight

whilst i have no knowledge about either team that you don't have i was surprised you could get nearly even money on the home team

All the sharp books on oddschecker have shorterned Carlisle.  The bus must be ahead of schedule to give the players an extra 20 mins to warm up!

All joking apart i would be interested to know how strictly the club monitor what the players eat today being stuck on a bus for hours on end at this level of football.  Couple of double whooper meals at hilton park and keele services mid journey surely wouldn't be a big price?

I think Fred should have a small interest, too.

8 hours in a coach? You must be joking.

Think this is worthy of a ton to win £95 of Fred's money. I have had a suitably sized wager on the outcome fwiw.  I really like these angles in low grade sport because the market never fully gets them IMO. Sometimes the obvious just needs betting for a decent chunk.  I couldn't imagine doing that trip and not wanting to instantly go to sleep.

Happy for it to go down to me for accounting purposes if tighty doesn't want it under his name.  The coach looks no different to the ones I went to school on in the 80s.  It really is a proper job being a footballer in the lower leagues.  Amazing the difference two leagues makes to your lifestyle.  Imagine Man city doing that trip on a coach in midweek during the day and just going straight out on the pitch!  They would be moaning there wasn't a suitable six star hotel for them to rest in the day before the game.

Really surprised by the complete lack of interest in tonight's TV Trophy. (Greyhounds).

Not complaining, not at all, just comparing it to back in the day, it used to be televised on BBC1, on a programme called Sportsnight, & it was a big night, sort of "Gala night".

Now it's at Towcester, & nobody gives a hoot.

Sportsnight was probably shite, but we used to think it was the nuts.

It was the nuts for me as a kid sports night. I remember watching it in bed waking up to watch the highlights of what is now the epl as a lineker groupie if I had seen him score on teletext before I went to bed.  I was 1.01 to record it every week on the vhs video recorder whether I woke up to watch it live or not. It was one of the few fixes of TV football every week (sounds crazy now I know to anyone under 40). I actually remember watching it one year and seeing the TV trophy and thinking 'wtf is this? Dogs running around a track!' 30+ years on I make my living from the game. Incredible looking back. God I wish I was your age tikay I would be a retired zillionaire dog layer from the golden age of dogs.  There are benefits of being old!

The first ever 'epl' game I went to as a kid in 1983 was Leicester lolapool. 3-3 draw lineker brace. Think king kenny had a brace as well. Incredible game and the sports night cameras were outside the ground, we walked past them on the way to the turnstiles and I remember saying 'will we be home in time to watch the highlights on TV dad?'

The bet would be attributed to Argue on the spready.
