In the old days, they used to give you £70 to win £110 at those prices.

Not in live on first listen tbh, will give it a couple more.

Good to see Eurovision fever sweeping the TfT nation in late January.

Russia are favs and worth bearing in mind they can't win coz of Putin.

Real drama in the chess!

Ok, maybe not for most, but some very surprising developments this afternoon in round 11 of 13.

Magnus Carlsen was level all day against women's number one, Hou Yifan. He's a master of quiet endgames and he outplayed an elite level player with consummate ease, forcing an error and takes the whole point. He is seemingly unstoppable for the title.

Caruana in second should have lost to Adams but the Englishman missed a win, allowing Caruana to find a draw.

Our man had an advantage but hasn't yet been able to convert. He is a pawn down but with a better position. A theoretical draw but over the board he may be able to force a mistake. Here's hoping.

Boom! Tomashevsky succumbs to the pressure and Ding Liren wins.

Carlsen 8/11
Caruana 7/11
Ding 6.5/11

The rest 6/11 and below.

Mr Nellberg

Sydney sunday

Finch is out

Warner/Smith in NZ preparing for the tour

Finch is still quoted favourite anywhere

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/australia-v-india/3rd-t20/top-australia-batsman

Sydney typically dry and spin friendly, though of course its the shortest format

smallest of the major Aus test grounds too

likely Aus top 6?

Marsh
Watson
Lynn
Maxwell
Head?
Wade

unless they bring in Khawaja or Bailey

no Aus batsman has looked at all comfortable against Ashwin and Jadeja, logically we want to be on someone batting 1,2,3 before the slow stuff comes on in the 7th over post powerplay

Shaun Marsh maybe? Maxwell up to 3 and at 7-1?

Shaun Marsh best player of spin in current side by a mile, so he'd interest me. If they drafted in Khawaja he'd obviously be favourite straight away. Bailey also good against spin. If they want to have a good look at the likes of Lynn and Head and don't change their squad I'd go for Marsh. Maxwell more of a MOTM bet for me in the past than a top bat, given the tempo he bat, bowls a bit, electric in the field etc

just checked prices, Marsh at 7/2 is a bit big but then if they turn to Khawaja it's about right. The one that would be wrong and could be stealing some value is Watson at 6/1, if he opened he'd be 4's or less. only firm slow to react is Skybet atm though, so no use. They may draft in Bailey to captain. How much will India tinker? if they keep the core (top 3 and the 2 spinners) are they still a bet at 11/10 now Aussies have lost their 3 top batsman? is it a no-bet as it's a dead rubber?

dead rubber, 11/10 not 11/8, didn't think the outright was a bet

feels like there should be a bet in the Aus top 6 though. maybe wait 24 hours to see if they bring in reinforcements

Good question, Tighty.

It's not quite that clear cut. A win tomorrow against Eljanov and a draw against Magnus on Sunday should do it. Two draws will likely have him finishing joint third, but it depends on the bookies' rules for payout.

I have just read the official rules. The tie break system for the second tier event is:

1. The head to head result between the players
2. Sonneborn-Berger
3. The player who had more games with Black
4. Drawing of lots.

Again, this is only for who wins the second tournament (the winner automatically qualifies for next year's elite event). I can't find a tie break system for the elite event although it's not going to matter.

It's possible dead heat rules apply with the bookies. Not really sure.

Yeh, if they go with Khawaja then he'd be the pick. Badbrokes is 3/1 on him, worth doing and then money back if they don't pick him? plays spin extremely well, in the form of his life, if he's not too over-confident then he'd be a big player

Not going to put anymore up for Fred this evening, i've bet a few but prices have all but gone. One that value seeking lurkers might like could be interesting in the 9.56 at Romford, T4 Gotoon Nancy, think you'll bet worse 8/1+ shots.

Apologies for the n00b question Matty, but do you ever bet the longer-odds greyhouds e/w? Or do you steer clear because of NRs chopping the prices to SP?

I've stuck some soon-expiring free bets on Gotoon Nancy so thanks for the tip.
