i've left Bolton relegation: mixed views

Hull. not sure the best way to do this. to finish bottom maybe.

if i have missed anything else while i was away tearing up the felt* let me know

*not tearing up the felt

Good way to oppose Bolton is in 356's top north west club market.

6-5 Bolton, 7-2 Bury, 9-2 Fleetwood, Rochdale, 9 Oldham.

Rochdale a definite bet here for me.

Ryan's not-offedness in the jockeys' championship confirmed as he flies away on a random holiday in the middle of summer.

SDS now around 1-4 and only should put it away in the next couple of weeks. Great bunch of rides at Brighton and Yarmouth today.

Keith Hill improves Rchdale every year on a small budget and Bolton apart the line up here isn't very strong?

more to it than that?

Yup as much as I like Bolton more than  most this market is appealing . You can be pretty confident Rochdale will have a solid season (again) Bury had money but now seems up in the air Fleetwood the same and rosler loads to prove and Oldham have 10 players or similar.

Looking like a dry Bunsen at Edgbaston. Who are these pitches prepared to favour?

they aren't (unlike if you go to India or some other places where the pitches are very overtly prepared for the home side)

Edgbaston in the second half of the summer usually sees dry pitches. Not the biggest square and not a lot the groundsman can do about it

Remember the counties (Lords apart) have to sealed bid to host the matches and are thus paying top dollar to do so in a very competitive market (9-10 test match venues these days, and seven tests a season, lords having two)

because they are paying top dollar they need to get minimum 4 and hopefully 5 days play to recoup costs (a successful or unsuccessful hosting of a test match will make or break a years P and L)

so no way the Warwickshire Chief Exec is saying to his groundsman "stick some water on, lets have a green top that swings round corners for jimmy anderson"

it would suit England massively, but not the host venue

the editor of Wisden has this to say

Lawrence Booth
‏@the_topspin

Pakistan bowling first. Interesting - and brave - decision, given that Yasir won't now be bowling last on a dry pitch.
