That's crazy. Weird that the other team were a 'school but just for sports' - the commercialisation of kids sports over there is nuts.

Did you hear about the chaos in the Brazil - Argentina World Cup qualifier. Brazil has the UK on the Red list for Covid, so a fortnight  quarantine if you have been in the UK before you travel there.
EPL recommended players not released for the game so the Brazilians were kept back (and might miss games under FIFA rules if Brazil complain).
BUT Spurs & Villa (I think) released their Argentinian players, and they are alleged to have falsely declared not to have been in the UK before travelling.
Brazilian police & Health Officials stopped the game in the 5th minute, game ended up abandoned, Argentina went back to the dressing room, refusing to leave, presumably to avoid arrest and deportation for the 4, and ended with Argentina flying out in the early hours of this morning back to Argentina.

So FIFA have a mess on their hands, between 2 of the top draw teams. 1 argument is FIFA proscribes  political interference - 0-3 Argentina. Another is that Argentina committed fraud & broke Covid rules - 3-0 Brazil.

My money will be on a rearranged game, possibly at a neutral venue. Money spinner, worldwide interest over the backstory & FIFA are always chasing TV ratings and cash.... If anyone finds a market for bets on the outcome let me know Smiley

I don't think Spurs and Villa did release them.   I thought I read somewhere that at least one of those clubs told the players they couldn't go.

Spurs, in particular, probably don't need the fallout from this given their start and the players are likely missing 3 games already.

And if they weren't keen on letting them go originally, I can't see them letting them go for a repeat.

Massive mess obv.

Edit. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/brazil-vs-argentina-tottenham-cristian-romero-giovani-lo-celso-b953856.html

Seems fun times ahead for Spurs.  Two grumpy players with possible fines to go with their alleged grumpy centre forward.

Most of the bets placed so far seem more like hopeful punts rather than value spots

Did anyone watch the impromptu Brazil training session that they had on the pitch after the match was abandoned? It was brilliant.

On the channel I was watching the cameras kept rolling. It was 10 a side on a half a pitch, two touch. The players seemed like they were having a great time, fantastic skills and no cheating, rolling around or trying to con referees in site. Just fun and the joy of the game. Plus there were three keepers, so one of the back ups played outfield and scored an absolute screamer!

Didn't watch the bounce game but wish I had, saw the keeper's goal & aye, an absolute belter of a goal.

sounds like 888 are going to keep the 1400 betting shops from those quotes in that article which wasn't expected.  Boyles and Bald were queuing up to bid.  Will be amazing to think WH brand might not exist in the uk anymore if they sell/rebrand the shops to 888.

Yes, that seems to be the case, confirmed by this Tweet from @gambling lamb & the attached puff which 888 released today;

Oisin's lead is down to 11 after Buick rode three yesterday. He's at the Curragh today and is then suspended tomorrow, Tuesday and Thursday.

The gap will be single figures by the end of the week and Marquand should be able to rebuild a lead in the handicap.

Fun final month ahead.

In we go please...

The next manager out market has been slow to readjust. I didn't feel there was much of a chance of Arteta being chopped going into the international break and certainly don't after they beat Norwich at the weekend. He's still odds-on across the boards, which is just wrong.

Watford haven't scored in three since winning on opening day and have two massive games coming up. They're 5-2 at Norwich at the weekend and will be odds against to beat Newcastle at home. Four games is already stretching it into a new season for the Pozzo trigger to be pulled and any less than 4pts from those two games and Xisco could be in trouble. 6-1 is too big.

In a couple of months the aftertimers will be asking how Ronaldo was ever 9-2 for PFA POTY. Unless a leg falls off he'll win it imo. He's a genuine superstar and, if last season proved anything, it's that footblers are lazy and lack imagination when it comes to voting. He won't even need to win the golden boot, for which he's a 5-2 shot, to win this.

KDB was my best result last season but it was a joke outcome. His numbers were down and he missed a chunk through injury. Dias should have won it. Have as much as you like here.

Thanks Mr W, I've had an investment on the demise of Xisco.

Don't doubt the Ronaldo bet is a good one, but I'm a little wary of placing long-term bets at my age.

The ageing superstar who's been an inpiration to millions and remains in peak condition thanks to a diet of beetroot, avocado and boiled eggs...

refuses to put any £££ on Ronaldo. Ridic.

We'll also have some on Solanke top Champo scorer EW @ 9-1. This market is desperately uncompetitive, so four places is golden, and there's no Danjuma to nick his goals this season. Should be 5-1 MAX.

Like this. Always a number 1 choice up front. Squad looks very solid post injuries and a good transfer window to provide him service . Stanilas injured yet agian so Solanke probably on pens as well.

lord chompy knows!   could you imagine how many titles and goals ronny would have won if he never left manure?  Fergie would still be the gaffer now lapping it up.   He would be way past 400 EPL goals now.  36 fit as a flee.   He still has 4-5 years left at the top of the game the same as Brady and Fed did at 36.    Ronny is THE biggest freak sports science wise in any sport of any era of any athlete genuinely considered a GOAT across all sports all time.   Only MJ comes close in terms of conditioning and Djok if you consider him the tennis GOAT which i do.   Alongside his ego he isn't remotely done at 36.  He isn't even close.  There isn't a footballer in history (or close) with his attention to detail about modern day elite level conditoning/fitness/sacrifice. It wouldn't surprise me if he retires at 42 and has 1200 goals and 150 portugal goals.   I really donj't get how its up for debate he is the GOAT.   He is miles ahead of Messi now and his longevity in the next 5 years will just cement that.  Won the lot in every league happy to put his neck and rep on the line to move from country to country for new chaallenges/environments.   Messi just sits tight in Barca with a great supporting cast.   Never learns another language/lifestyle.   These are under rated factors of being an elite GOAT sportsman.

He could retire the GOAT of all sports if he lasts to 42.   No one has better genes and commitment to physical excellence than Ronny.   At his peak he had better than average NBA standing jump proved by espn sports scientists.   The guy is a total one off freak.  Ronny, Brady, MJ.   Fed isn't going to retire the GOAT of his own sport at this rate.   Don't forget Wazza is the same age as Ronny.  Fags/booze/Coleen v Ronnys approach.  The comparison between Wazza and Ronny in the same era just shows how bad Rooney was/how good Ronny outside of natural skill level and lifestyle was even though they both made a fortune out of the game.   Rooney's biggest mistake in the 2000's was not watching Ronny and his lifestyle and training and sucking it up.   Ronaldo lives and breathes the game more than any elite footballer ever.   It's actually incredible to even think of Rooney playing football now never mind at the elite level Ronny will be for years to come.
