Thanks everyone - in the circumstances the days been pretty good, dad went incredibly peacefully at 11am - and dad had a good last four weeks which was a bonus.  I appreciate the comments, and also the support from well actually quite a few of you in the thread over the past year....albeit drunken chats from Coventry to Vegas to London, or late night Skype chats.  There's people I've met through blonde and poker since I quit work and become more active on the scene, that if you'd have asked me a year ago I didn't even know, let alone would expect support like friends I've known for years.  I really appreciate that and am truly grateful.

Hes had amazing support from Marie Curie and the Weldmar Trust and as a result I am going to do something from a creative staking perspective in the next few months for a £1k event, probably MonteCarlo - mentioned it to Cos - sell 25% at 2.0, give the "profit" and match it direct to Marie Curie so they lock up £500 and match it with a 25% share from me. Will be a good sweat and we talked about it last week and he was well up for it - especially after Dublin where he was so proud. So I'll get onto it at some point and do it all through just giving.com so above aboard.

Thanks again. Shaun

Its a horrible thing to see someone you care about go through something like that, from speaking to shaun over the last few months it sounds like his Dad was in reasonable comfort and extremely high spirits which was fantastic. It's such a shame but it sounds like a wonderful, dignified end which is what I think Shaun and his family wanted, so in a bizarre way this should be a celebration.

All the best Shaun xxx

I'm so sorry to hear that news, Shaun, our Dad is the most precious thing we have in life. I'm glad he was around for Dublin a few weeks ago, & I'm sure he was extremely proud then, & always, of you.

Times will be tough for a while for you & the family, but at least he is at rest, & asleep, in a good place.

My thoughts are with you & your family at this terrible time.
