It sounds very similar to mushy peas in Nottingham

The first time my Stepdad went to Goose Fair he was incredibly confused at the concept of buying mushy peas with mint sauce as a standalone snack Cheesy

He only had to try the properly made mushy peas once to appreciate the difference with what they sell down south though, then he was a convert.

Was thinking Parched Peas might give it away.

I never saw them served stand alone in Scotland either Jon, I guess done right (salt and vinegar?) and with the right peas they could be quite nice.

Proper Nottingham mushy peas involve bicarbonate of soda, dried peas, overnight soaking, I think salt as well. The vinegar goes with the mint sauce.

I put Nottingham because I've only seen it in Nottingham (Goose Fair and Victoria Market to be precise), it might be other places as well but I didn't want to generalise without knowing it was true.

EDIT: wikipedia tells me

Never heard of parched peas that's why it doesn't give the location away (without cheating) but it def reminded me of the Notts equivalent

This was meant to be an addition to the collection of bird pics on blonde, but the bloody crow ( Huh?

I think - part of the reason for posting was to ask) flew off the branch/tree near the middle about a minute before I got in a position to zoom in and snap it.

But I thought a bit of random cliff wouldn't go amiss anyway

The windmills are absolutely incredible. Very very nice work!

The missus got invited to have ~~a go on~~ look in some of the aircraft used for the Battle of Britain memorial flights. Amongst other stuff she got to go inside what she tells me is one of two remaining Lancaster bombers and she also got to sit in the cockpit of a spitfire which i guess not many people can say they have done. Also have a video of them starting the engine up whilst it is still on starting blocks. Pretty impressive. I asked her to take some pics of engines/machinery type stuff as i have had nothing to give for this month's topic. I know aircraft are not everyone's cup of tea but there are a few of us geeks out there who love em, so taken by missus on behalf of myself:

What a big heavy lump that Rolls Royce engine looks. It's amazing the plane was so agile with that in the nose.

I wonder what that crown-wheel & pinion were for?

Great shots Milli, brave were the men who flew around in those things.

Went here today http://g.co/maps/xrd9f , Scotland's biggest regional park. Just over the hill is the Clyde Coast, Glasgow 25 mins away on the other side. Sunny, but through diffuse cloud in bits. Kept overexposing shots.

While I was taking pics at the airport the other day, I heard a louder than usual jet whine. I looked up and saw this in the distance.

It sounded like he was really flooring it.
