With the grandkids with me today it was pretty much impossible to search out the normal interesting or wildlife pics. They ran me ragged all day as wanted to climb and investigate. decided to concentrate on getting some decent pics of them instead. Quite like these two. I had been placing them in the various windows of an old ruin where they had spent an age running around. They decided they wanted to sit in windows at oppsite ends of the ruin and shout over to each other.

When I moved round to take some pics of the wee man I noticed that I could also view the lass at the other end.

The portrait of Walter Tull, etched in the sand on Ayr Beach.

The first black officer in the British Army and the first black player to sign for Rangers, he was set to play for them on his return from the Battle of the Somme.

He never made it home.

A large portrait of Dr Elsie Inglis has been raked into the sand on West Sands beach in St Andrews as part of WW1 commemorations and the PagesoftheSea project

"This has got to be one of the most powerful photographs I have ever seen. Above is a battalion of the Cameron Highlanders in 1914, prior to being despatched to the front line; below is the same battalion upon their return in 1918 after the armistice. "

Agreed

I bet the ones that came back had such a feeling of guilt for the rest of their lives.
