from this weekend's live update A little bit perturbed that as the only player sitting at his table at the start, he was forced to wait for at least one competitor to show up before a hand was dealt
Shame, he was dominating the table
Pete Lintanon
so if none of his tablemates showed up for an hour he would've had to just sit there waiting? seems rather odd surely once the cards are in the air he should be able to rape and pillage that table until the others turn up

Depends really. If it was cash then all the others would have been delt out anyway.
If it was tourny then im sure the rule is you need a min of 4 players on a 9 handed table and 3 on a 6max.

For how long? If no one else turns up for an hour, what happens then?

But in the circumstances you're talking about a stack would count as a player. This is different. There were sufficient stacks at the table to deal but as there was only one actual player they made him wait. Seems very weird.

that rule is for when you have eliminations, you stop dealing and break/balance tables in this situation there would've been 8 or 9 stacks which as matt points out would count as players

I think he should get the blinds as fast as the dealer can shuffle and deal out the hands. It'd look farcical but don't see why you wouldn't do this if the tournament clock is running.

Saying that, if the comp had just started and the table was still empty then why was it opened? Dusk dont open a table with less than 4 players and balence with exsisting players.

The tournament will have started with 9 (or however many) allocated to that table. They just didn't turn up by the sounds of it.

what happens if 2 more turn up and he then walks away, this could happen all day until they all make day 2 (very unlikely and ridiculous) but could happen!!
