AW must have a clause in his contract that he earns a % of the clubs profit surely in transfer dealings? Why else would he keep doing this year after year if he doesn't gain personally financially from it?

I'm still confident that we'll buy another quality striker in this window.
IG and AW obviously not singing from the same hymn-sheet this week.

I feel Wenger is simply wedded to economic concepts he learnt 50+ years ago and can't see the wood for the trees anymore now he's getting old.

I've said it many times on here before, but David Dein was a great ally for AW in the transfer market and there's noone like him in place now.

Who do you think you could get in the quality striker department?

That is a tough question and undoubtedly the crux of our problem.
However I'm sure that our need for a quality striker is at the top of our "to do" list and will be addressed.
It might well not be a household name but experience tells us that Aresene Knows.

I find all this "Arsene must spend" just as difficult to grasp as "Arsenal are under-performing".
17 or 18 straight years in the Champions League is magnificent & unparalleled.
In the "All Time Premier League" over 25 seasons Arsenal sit 2nd. Arsene has been at the helm for 20 of those 25 years.
Last season, they finished 2nd. Could have been first, maybe, but they beat the likes of Chelsea (out of sight), Man "Hey Big Spender" City, Man Utd, Liverpool Spurs etc.
Splashing money around - partly because everyone also does - does not buy titles. (See Leicester City).
Moyes spent fortunes, the Club went backwards & he got the tin tack. Ditto LVG.
Same thing at Liverpool, with Brendan. Off you go son.
The Handsome One left Chelsea in disgrace.
Man C have what seems to be an exquisite squad, money is no object. They held on to 4th last season by the skin of their teeth.
The Top 7 of the Premier League last year included 4 so-called small clubs - Leicester City, Spurs, Southampton (despite the defection of half the squad) & West Ham. The 2 Manchester Clubs were 4th & 5th, (5 points adrift of Arsenal), with Liverpool 8th & Chelsea 10th sandwiching lolzzStoke in 9th.
Is there really evidence that a) Arsene is past it, or b) Arsenal MUST splash silly cash just because everyone else is?
There's more to football management than spending money willy-nilly.
The facts don't seem to fit the rhetoric.
If I were a Director of Arsenal FC, I'd be chuffed to bits. Built (& well on the way to paying for) a splendid new Stadium without impacting the on the field results, got some beautiful ball-players, still there or thereabouts every single season. Any evidence of lack of demand for seats at home games? Nope. And that's despite their prices being sky high.
If they can find a better than Arsene, fair enough, get rid, he can go upstairs. First up though, identify & name his replacement. How many Managers in the world would do better than Arsene has & is doing?

That's the difference.
I'm a fan, not a Director.
Different primary objectives.
As for Arsene knows best. That old myth lost its ring of truth many moons ago.
Sorry.

Ahh - gotcha. You are just a fan. Evidence inadmissible then.

More of an old man issue than dedication.
Maybe if I was a Director I could afford to have it dealt with.

Ha. In that matter, we share the same problem.
In fact, it's possible (Ladbrokes go 5/4) that I might in fact be older than you. I just look younger.
