Joking aside - and I do have some sick in my mouth - I agree with Adz.
At least insofar as I'd prefer my team in arsenal's position to have spent an extra £100m (still less than the three around us) and had a genuine shot in a number of competitions for a few years. They're basically two players away from doing just that. Fans paying £3k a year for season tickets or whatever can only be appeased so far by being told the club is in a fabulous financial position.
If arsenal had spent £100m this year they still wouldn't have won the league on the balance of probabilities. Spurs have spent £100m and gone backwards this season. That would have bought them Suar or Bale and a couple of squad players at this level. To 'buy' the league nowadays costs way more than arsenal have at their disposal. Hence why Arsenal should be happy finishing top 4 because they cannot compete financially at the very top of the table even if they do blow the crown jewels they have saved up.
So until 10 weeks ago why were we top.
Had it been the first 3 weeks of the season you have an argument, but when half the games have been played, I think you can say the team was good enough. Injuries were ineveitable, and as the majority of fans agreed we needed to strengthen to .keep up our challenge, I dont think I am on my own in my viewpoint. It needed money to be spent and luck with injuries, but we did have the team to do it. Wenger ignored all the cries for spending, and the rest is history.
Short term variance maybe over a tiny sample size of games? Now you have regressed to the mean as the sample size of games increases (which is totally standard) and are where you usually are and where you should finish on any normal season for arsenal given the current financial climate of football. Good levelling though adz winding us all up. You know all this yourself and we are all biting away because we are bored with the Chelski domination!

Arbboy, you'll never be a football manager.

Tal this is surely one of those Spurs fan winding up Arsenal fan even more type levels?
You cannot honestly support the route your club has just taken?

Papers and radio full of people joining the ever growing band.
Finally admitting that AW has probably done his best work and time to move on.
No doubt all my followers on here will continue to say how stupid I am. It's ok chaps, it's all, ok.

How old are you ? genuinely interested. I'm 51 and remember a time when it wasn't at all usual to pick up a trophy every year. Also, as I get older I care less about trophies and only care about playing decent & competitive football. Our squad is good but we have no one of the class of Suarez, Aguero, Hazard and a few others in the top 2 sides (citeh and chels). Part of that is because there aren't many players in that class - I think that's more a factor than parsimony.
Can be painful being so poor in a few games but win a game in hand and we're 4 pts behind chelsea - it's great progress this year whichever way you look at it and we have been unlucky with Walcott/Ramsey. So, Ima keep the manager another year at least. Just hope we don't tail off spectacularly

Mid forties, but a child at heart. And if you haven't sussed it by now, I derive far more fun from winding dear old Ralph up.
I genuinely don't see it the same way as the good folk on here, who can browbeat, name call all they like, I think we could do with a change.
I'm sure people don't read all of what I say. I don't belittle AWs achievements, just think they were a long time ago.
He had a great opportunity this year, one that may not come along again for a while, and he refused to dig deep and use all the resources to hand, when it was oh so clear by not buying anyone these injuries would overtake us.
Other people on here seem to think that is ok. I don't. Am I a bad man for thinking that? That's how everyone on here seem to view me!
There are also sub plots to my keenness to see him go. I wish he had given Theo more games earlier, ditto the ox, but most of all, his continual denial of ever seeing any incident that is anti Arsenal. Commendable at times, but laughable and embers sing at others. Other managers may do it, but when our claims to be a man of principle etc, I get pretty wound up by it.
Anyway, there you have it, a mid forties Gooners, who may act like a child, but having fun while the ship sinks!

I don't want him to go but I think it's a perfectly legit view to see it differently. It is definitely frustrating to see some glaring holes in the squad and nothing
seeming
to be done with any urgency to resolve it. I think even the most ardent Arsene fan would have said we need another striker or two at the outset this year.

A club the size and history of Arsenal going 8 years without a trophy is ridic.
I'm surprised arsenal maintain 60000 fans every home game.
