You can't blame players for picking up yellow cards
! All it takes is a slight mis timed tackle, or harsh refereeing decision, etc.
Now red cards, that's fair enough. Eg Terry should deffo miss it.
Who do you blame then?
There's the total disconnect, I'm afraid. Ignoring referring decisions (yes, there are some) who's fault is it then?
The rules are there for a reason. Yes, the margins are sometimes fine, but thats how it is. If players think it is not their fault, then there's the problem.
Yes, but the punishment doesn't fit the crime imo. That's even if it is a crime. Why not make it so 1 yellow card = season long ban. Watch how boring football would become then as players would be forced to play it as if it were a non contact sport.
Picking up 2 yellow cards over the course of multiple games is hardly a hanging offence. Yet someone who gets one early in the comp and then receives one in the semi final can potentially not then be playing the biggest game of his career. OTT punishment.

And apart from anything else...
it's the FINAL. The game to decide which team is the best!
Sorta spoils it a bit when neither team can put out their best first choice team.

just to clarify as that may not have been the clearest of posts. you don't get banned for 2 yellows
you need to pick up 3 in the 12 groupstage/knockout games. not really a big ask for a player to avoid a ban

Change the rules then. But the rules exist for a reason, & they go into every game knowing the rules. By playing, or being a pro footballer, you MUST accept the rules. It's the real world, not the internet.
They all knew the rules BEFORE the game.
In many ways, some might say, it is sad that Terry misses the Final. But perhaps he should have thought of that before being so bloody stupid. We can't blame all that ails us on others! We are all accountable for our own actions.

The rules are known and provide an extra edge in semi-final games where players who know they are walking a tightrope have to play with more discipline or take the risk and maybe take one for the team.
Both Keane and Scholes missed the 99 Final
*
due to accumulated bookings (Keane managed not to do a Gazza when he got booked in the Semi 2nd leg). No doubt there are many other examples of players who were clearly influential in getting their side to the final having to miss out due to indiscipline or refereeing errors.
Darren Fletcher missed the 2010 Final through a refereeing error and appeals were made but failed
**
*
turned out OK on the night though
**
turned out not quite so well

Not just players who suffer... fans and the millions around the world as they don't get to see the best two side with their best players on the pitch go at it....
such is the effect it is going to have on the match with a third of the players out almost makes a mockery of the comp as a whole as the best never really won the thing
Might as well put out chelsea irregulars v munich 2nd 11
Has to be a bit of common sense applied here ... oh wait its Uefa....

So, if 7 of the 22 'best' players were injured you'd delay the final so that the 'millions around the world could see the best players on the pitch'?

Mute point..they are unable to play...these players are able to play but are not allowed due to a mixture of discipline reasons...

If some form of amnesty existed for the Final then players on the edge of being banned would be free, in the 2nd leg of the Semi, to commit bookable offences which could influence the outcome of the game and deny us the chance to see the best team in the final without penalty. The rules exist for a reason.

Always good to be corrected.... well as stated somewhere further up they have changed the rules for the world cup... so why not UEFA ?

Bs Rule, makes a mockery of the comp, let them all play except JT imo.
I presume the Yellows are wiped after the group stages?
How many yellows needs to be picked up to miss the final between the 2nd round and final?
The argument that people would have free reign to go bananas in the semi and get a yellow and play the final is a bit silly, what can you do thats so bad that only gets a yellow? Sweet feck all, so unless you get a red then there is no way a final lace should be in jeopardy for something extemely innocuous, I mean look at that alaba last night that 'handled' it! Unbelieveable travesty that he will not play because of this.
Let them play ffs.

Honestly he is just a fuckign brain-dead little chav that would be pushing and running keys down the side of expensive cars right now if he hadn't been sick at football.
His Dad still getting caught shoplifting
even since his son's made millions so he obviously comes from scummy background.
He must be so bad for morale in the england camp, speshly as a captain, I just don't understand how you can have someone who is so disliked as the national captain. Re-instating him as captain post Wayne Bridge affair and following Anton Ferdinand business is just laughable - Stuart Pearce to see sense onetime?
Just a MASSIVE dick really
Get your facts right Dave. His Dad got caught selling coke to journalists. It was his Mum who was caught stealing from Tesco.
