Anyone else receive these regularly?
I get about 2 a day saying i may be entitled blah blah blah, obviously never have had a bank loan so cant be true. Best way to handle them? I cant not answer my phone as I get plenty of different unknown numbers calling me about various things that I need to answer, and they seem to come from different numbers all the time anyway so cant always keep track.

I googled some of the numbers and several people said since they put in a Car Insurance Quote online they been getting the calls. I just bought car the other day but cant drive so was trying several insurance firms for quotes, and since then been getting calls daily, how do i remove my number from their system?

Contact your provider and ask to be put on a no cold calls list. I did. Problem (Almost) solved.

Ah good idea, didnt know they could do that. How do they differentiate between a normal call and cold call? Some of the numbers even appear as mobile numbers now

I think they just add your number to a list of people that have specifically requested no cold calls and then make the list available to cold callers. If they call you after that, they risk having their service disconnected. It's not foolproof, but my cold calls are down by ~ 95%.

And if you answer a cold call after going on the list with "Could I please have your company details as I am on the cold call register" the call ends quickly.

But from the TPS site: Organisations that use recorded phone message to try and sell or promote their products or services have to comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003. These say that marketers who leave recorded phone messages must obtain prior consent from the subscriber before they can make such a call.
Where a subscriber receives a recorded phone message they haven't agreed to there may have been a breach of the regulations. If you are receiving recorded messages and have not given prior permission and can identify the organisation leaving the message, you can complain directly to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), who are the body responsible for enforcing the above regulation. Their details are: So if you take a bit more time & answer the calls you can report them. They're not as bad as those swindling bastards who call telling you your computer is infected with a virus, pretend they're from Microsoft & get you to hand over control of your computer. Can cost about £200 to get data back the shits remove, then you can't trust that they can't get back in. Obv I've not fallen for it but a couple of older folk in my area have.

I used TPS a couple years back and barely get any calls now. Before that the only effective way to stop some calls was to be very abusive down the phone, no classy but seemed to work

Just be polite IMO. Ask them to remove your details. I used to work at an outbound call centre and if people were abusive they got bombarded with all sorts of shit.
