With it's anti Scottish and Welsh verses in it it's hardly a surprise very few Non English will be joining in.
Outdated and same goes if the English were asked to Sing FoS.

Not quite the same with FoS being the Scottish anthem and GSTQ being the British one though...

What are the anti Scottish/welsh verses?

6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the King

Pretty sure all the Scottish players in the squad sang it though...

Mr Snowball

"God Save the Queen" is the national anthem of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
. Like many aspects of British constitutional life, its official status derives from custom and use, not from Royal Proclamation or Act of Parliament. In general only one or two verses are sung, but on rare occasions three.[6] The variation in Britain of the lyrics to "God Save the Queen" is the oldest amongst those currently used, and forms the basis on which all other versions used throughout the Commonwealth are formed; though, again, the words have varied throughout these years.

England (as distinct from the United Kingdom, comprising England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) has no official national anthem of its own; "God Save the Queen" is treated as the English national anthem when England is represented at sporting events (though there are some exceptions to this rule).

Throw off the anti English shackles, sir, and embrace!

That's not an official verse though is it? Not much anti-welsh in it either...

'The 1837 article and other sources make it clear that this verse was not used soon after 1745, and certainly before the song became accepted as the British national anthem in the 1780s and 1790s.'

Good decision that.

I like to see sports people sing along to their national anthem but I shan't be getting too upset when they don't.

I'm sure they have their reasons.

In rugby, what anthem do the Lions have played before their games? Does everyone sing that?

Can we get another national anthem?  It's bollocks.  I'd prefer one about the country, like Australia has.

Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still, and wider, shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet!

Truth and Right and Freedom, each a holy gem,
Stars of solemn brightness, weave thy diadem.

Tho' thy way be darkened, still in splendour drest,
As the star that trembles o'er the liquid West.

Throned amid the billows, throned inviolate,
Thou hast reigned victorious, thou has smiled at fate.

Land of Hope and Glory, fortress of the Free,
How may we extol thee, praise thee, honour thee?

Hark, a mighty nation maketh glad reply;
Lo, our lips are thankful, lo, our hearts are high!

Hearts in hope uplifted, loyal lips that sing;
Strong in faith and freedom, we have crowned our King!
