This is the hand i went out tonight in the CinCin's £10K gtd tournament (live).

UTG goes all in for 30,000 with blinds at 1500/3000, soon to go up to 2000/4000.  I'm on the button with 35,000 with AK.  Not a lot of info about the UTG player apart from he seems like a solid enough player, slightly loose.

Call or Fold?  There was 20 left and the final 9 make the money.  Average stack was around 35,000.

I called on the basis that I was happy with a coin flip at this stage to mount a challenge for the top positions.  I never gave it much thought but assumed a medium pair was most likely, although AQ was a possibility as well.

Interested in what regular tournie players do here.  Should I have folded and waited for a better opportunity and to make sure I get my chips in ahead, with the risk of being anted a way a bit.

My opponent had 3 3 by the way.  And it held up.

Good to know Smiley   I used to be annoyed at myself if I go out a multi-table when I didn't get my chips in ahead but I'm realising its not as simple as that at all.

if he is willing to push 33 utg, then his range of hands is AK AQ AJ maybe lower, maybe KQ. So against his RANGE of hands you are ahead, just because you are behind in this instance (marginally) does not make it wrong.

The one who kept thieving my blinds lol

I'd been short for hours and was horribly cold-decked but had just about managed to drag myself back into it, was game on had I managed to take that pot but wasn't to be.

Yeh sorry about that, all of them were auto-raises tho (medium aces).  Are you the bazza that used to post on betfair (stallion)?  These coin-flips are where tournaments are won and lost. I was lucky enough not even to have been in one up till that AK hand.

I think the event is giong to be weekly.  Will be back I think but not every week.

No worries lol, I'd have been doing the same in your shoes.  Yeah I'm the same Bazza.

You are right about tourneys been won and lost on those flips.  They have been killing me the past few weeks..months even, just can't win one that matters.
