cracking day

really pleased for mick appleby another example of his talent the horse was well handicapped as i pointed out earlier in the thread i am trying my best to not back "big" gambling yards this winter as it makes the game easier.

Quite why i was running around like a blue arsed fly last night getting on at 9-2 then is a bit beyond me Smiley

The other horse ran well but the winner won easily think the bet was fine though.

Tommorow looks a day of maybe a couple of small bets nothing more, i need some sleep now been up most of the night

running total = £2401.12 (settled irish jugger at 11-2)

Horsey

I asked earlier in the thread, page 1.

Why do you do high priced horses to win sometimes, when there is room  and enough runners to do them each way.

I am not querying your strategy, just intrigued by your motive.

hi typhoon

i will answer this tonight in detail it is rather raw at present after backing the second and third win only in the melbourne cup this morning at 50-1 and 100-1 respectably

sorry for delay typhoon

just as i read this morning i had been awake all night having stayed up watching the melbourne cup meeting in aus from 11pm until 3.45am the race was at 4am and i fell asleep

ended up watching it at about 5.30? recorded freezing cold knackered and seeing two horses i had backed at 50-1 and 100-1 second and third and horses i had backed in small exactas and tricasts fill 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th

If that doesnt get you annoyed nothing will, its moments like that wehn i sometimes think what the hell am i doing? How many people are watching this race at this time feeling as bad or worse? On reflection more than i originally though at 6am this morning.

It is very rare i let things stay with me but until about 2pm today i couldnt shake of the potential massive win and it was making me wary of backing irish jugger again in truth i had less on myself than i would have last night the dangers of punting with a tired, mixed up head are massive.

Anyway your question why win only? Simple answer is it makes me more money than each way betting has ever done (based on last 5 years) Yes losing runs can be longer, but when i find a 20-1 winner i need it to count to the maximum it can.

Sorry this is a bit muddled i am shattered and heading for a sleep very soon Smiley

Great stuff again Horse, loving your work.

Note to self, need to start reading before the races tho.

I think the win only at big prices is good because looking thru your bets you are finding something you like about the horses that makes the price attractive, you know that a lot of them will blow out so don't need/want the place bets and as you say when you find the winner you have twice as much on. I  do the same if I am betting on a golf event,  would rather have 6 darts at finding the winner at big prices than 3 ew bets because there are so many golfers that don't contend each week at the prices I tend to bet at that the place part doesn't interest me.
