Food
Grand Lux Cafe at Palazzo is top notch with a massive menu and great service. Well priced and don't need to book.

Now don't get me wrong i love a good old drunken stumble into Grand Lux as much as the next person but let's not go crazy. It's very average food but they are open all night, the portions are big and the service is quick. We are talking about someone's 60th birthday here, i appreciate not everyone is on an Alize budget but surely we can do better than a diner?

ya imo GLux is I cant be bothered to go anywhere nice but want quick food, potentially at 3am.

Personal favourites

La Cave - Wynn
Yellowtail - Bellagio
Thai - Lotus of Siam (offstrip NE on tropicana I think it is)
Steak - Cut (in venetian/palazzo)

For late night

Stratta - Wynn (opposite poker room)
GLux (V or P) - if you want glux for breakfast then the palazzo one is often quieter.

cabs from airport are a piece of piss.

south of strip don't hit I15, anywhere middle and up take I15. if you are going wynn etc and they come off near ceasers slap them in their face.

Limos work like cabs except there are alot less people wanting them, go for the lincoln town cars which are basically just nice cabs and not as expensive as a limo.

Similarly if there is a large queue for cabs and you do not wish to wait, either pay for a limo/town car or just tip the guys near the front door and they'll whistle a cab up for you so you don't have to wait.

I'm struggling to think of a better value place on the strip for $$$ spent v quality of food, excellent value.

Steak for me is

Cut >>>> SW >>> Craftsteak > Vic & Anthony's > Carnveino> Striphouse >

If I was taking my mum out though, of the above I would say SW fits the bill best of all

Still haven't got to Lotus despite intending to for 3 years and knowing everyone thinks it's the nuts Sad

<3 Sushi Samba

Grand Lux is ideal for a decent feed either at 3am as suggested, or when you cba to go anywhere else and it has a massive menu too!

Outback Steakhouse
Cheesecake Factory

Although I do love the Sunday Night Pasta from GLC too!

All decent $$$ value IMO.  None of them suitable for a 60th meal though.

Hey all, heading to Vegas 5 weeks today and looking for some tips on shows, restaurants, poker comps etc...

I have a $500 a day budget. (Ive got £1.5k of English i still need to exchange if anyone has got dollars at spot?)

Airport

Tips about taxis to our hotel(harrahs) please. What do you ask for so they don't take the piss and roughly how much is it? (You gotta watch those taxi drivers Wink )

Hotel

Its my mothers 60th whilst there so any tips on blagging an upgrade to our rooms?

Shows

What shows to see? So far I've been told about the Legends show which is in our hotel. Any other must See's?

Grand Canyon. Worth the hit to do it via a chopper? Wheres best to book?

Food

Nice not too expensive restaurant's to take my mum on her birthday. Nothing fancy just a good steak place or something along those lines.

Poker

Wheres best to play? Decent deepstack tourneys around the $100 mark. Cheap cash games.

Any other tips?

Thanks in advance Smiley

Airport:
As said above, limo or cab. If you take the cab then make sure you say "Harrah's - and take Koval please." Don't let him strongarm you for the freeway but if he just accepts it and gets you there through the back roads, tip well.

Hotel:
Be confident, take a $20 note and politely ask for what you want. Bit of research needed here to find out what type of room you're aiming for. I would personally ask for a room with a view of the Strip but not of the construction. Don't know exactly how Harrahs is set out but you could always ask for a view of the Mirage volcano.

Shows:
We saw Penn & Teller when we were over there and would recommend it to anybody. Book the GC when you are out there.

Food:
IF you go and see Penn & Teller you get money off Voodoo at the Rio. Well worth a visit. Might be worth a trip to http://www.restaurant.com - you can buy vouchers dirt cheap which give say $25 off when you spend $50 or something like that. Even if you don't use them this time they never run out.

Poker:
Tourneys - not a chance. Aria's $120 is ok. Venetian have a $150 which is ok as well. They just don't do decent cheap deepstack tourneys.
Cash - Every cardroom has cheap, low limit cash. Most games are $1/$2. Easy money to be won. For fun, crazy poker hit the IP for their Sunday night $3/$6 LIMIT Mixed Game. I guarantee you won't have heard of half the 11 variations they play. Get there by 6ish to make sure you get a seat.
