I know the thread is probably supposed for pro darts/darts on the tele, but does anyone play darts?
Every year whilst watching the Worlds I think "I must get a board" and this year I finally did. It's a bit harder than I expected and I'm not very good yet. I think I have darts that are too light for me (24g) so have ordered some 26g ones. I did the throw at the bull test and all mine are below which apparently means I need heavier darts. I'm glad I read up on it because I assumed I needed lighter ones to make them go further! Enjoying the game at the moment and hopefully the new darts will help. Short term goal is to improve accuracy and to be able to finish a game out before we get down to double one!
I have had a board for years, at one stage I was taking it quite serious and practicing everyday. It's actually quite surprising how accurate you can get when you practice for long enough. I structure my sessions to the following
1) round the clock 1-20 a hit any part of the number
2) round the clock 1-20 hit between the double and treble
3) round the clock 1-20 hit between the outer bull and treble
4) round the clock trebles
5) round the clock doubles
Of course at the end of each hitting the 25 and Bull
I'd started of by logging how many "shots" it took to achieve each target and obviously could see how I was getting better by taking less shots and less time.
Also done the standard thing of practicing hitting big scores and checkouts.
Try it, you will be surprised how quickly you get accurate or fed up!!!!!
Nowadays I just enjoy getting the darts out when the worlds come round.
