Makes sense to start levelling out the prize money a bit. Bazza obviously wanted to hit the headline figure of half a million to the winner. Now he’s hit that he can start bringing the likes of the MP up to an appropriate level. There should be plenty to go round given there are 249 players registered for Euro Q school and expecting up to 900 at the UK one. At £450 each that’s going to be just shy of £500k in entry fees.

I saw the £450 entry fee and my eyebrows raised somewhat.  Seems steep.  Could me and you register and pay the £450 and turn up just for the craic if we wanted to?  Is there no minimum level required if you have the money?  Rob Cross (and to a lesser extent the youngsters doing well in the worlds this year) has clearly fueled a 'moneymaker effect' in darts.  Didn't realise hired the tennis centre in Wigan was so expensive!  I imagine there are huge exs admin/refs/scorers for the Q school.  It must be a huge operation running it with so much at stake i can't imagine the players score themselves right?

Yeah no barriers. Pay your money and you are in.

I’m not sure regarding markers etc. It must be a nightmare to organose though. They ran the Euro and uK Q schools on the same weekend but have split them this time presumably to ease the staffing burden.

It must be great to turn up to if you are in the darts world.  Like rocking up at DTD for the monthly £300 freezeout and running into the grizzed old pros who are gone at the game and the hungry young kids on the way up and a few proper whales who have no chance and just turn up for the craic because they can afford it.  There must be some proper pub level boys who turn up for a jolly.  Wonder if any pubs run a poker style sat where they all put a score in and the winner that night goes to the q school?

Fair old boost to the Wigan economy for the week.  Can't be many free hotel rooms that week i would imagine.  What do they do ?  Just have a couple of knock out events each day?  Win one of them and you are on the tour then a leaderboard over all the events with points for placing and then the remaining places are awarded on a leaderboard basis rewarding consistency?

Basically a 900 runner event every day for 4 days and the last 2 standing each day get a tour card.  Wonder if they bother to actually play the final if thats the case?

Smith's boss, Ando i would imagine.  MVG averaged over a ton in nearly 20 WC games in a row now i read somewhere.  That truly is world class.   Impossible to argue he isn't the best in the world consistently right now.

I love Micheal Smith, his new found aggressive attitude is great gonna do very well, but seriously saying MVG isn't the best player in the world is kind of a joke and it makes him just look a bit pathetic, i don't know what metric Smith wants to measure "the best player in the world" against but;

2018 "average" average

Gary : 99.16
MVG : 102.08 (#1 overall 5+ matches)

2018 Checkout %

Gary : 41.85%
MVG : 44.33% (#1 overal 100+ attempts)

Highest World Ranking 2018

Gary : 4
MVG : 1

Prize Money (Ranking Only / Total)

Gary : £437,750 / £695,000
MVG : £963,750 / £1,411,250

Tournament Wins 2018

Gary : 8
MVG : 19 (to give context, #3 = 3, #4 = 3, #5 = 2, so MVG has won 2.4x second, 6.5x third and 9.5x 5th place tourney wins!)

He wins more tournaments than anyone else (by a mile) wins more money than anyone else, has been basically untouchable at world #1 for 4 years and is £750k ahead as of today, averages higher, checks out doubles better I mean come on Smith show some class lad, he's decently the best player in the world and its basically only Gary Anderson who's been able to compete with him A-Game for A-Game for a while now. Not only this but he's been doing it for 4 years and has over 75 ranking tournament wins in that period so you can't even say he's fluked it!

No, they don’t bother playing the final.

All of the games are going to be on Dart Connect so we will be able to see how bad some of the averages are.

Eurosport coverage has been decent. Bingham obv hopeless though.

The prelims and 1st round was hard work at times but there was some decent stuff played yesterday. Durrant is obviously going to take a lot of beating but Williams looks in really good nick and will be a decent test for him in the semi assuming both make it that far.  I also thought Waites looked in decent touch last night as well.

It will be interesting to see what is left of the BDO after Q School, given the BDO boys can take a punt now and go back to BDO without penalty. Durrant and Waites have already confirmed they are giving it a go. I’d be stunned if Williams didn’t go as well. I suspect most will take a punt, it would be madness not to especially given Bazza’s announcenr yesterdayt of the increased prize money on the tour.

Duzza, Waites, Williams, McGeeney, Whitehead already confirmed for Q school. They won’t all get cards but Duzza a very short price to get one and would fancy Waites and williams to get one as well. There won’t be much left of the BDO.

Quality turn out for the q school.  Be interesting to see who gets through.  Surprised a firm hassn't priced up yes/no to get a tour card for all the major players.

Euro Q school finished and 11 cards awarded.

2019 prize money across all events.  Matchplay should be £200k ftw imo.  Still far too top hheavy for the worlds for ranking purposes

I think the BDO boys will do well. I hope Duzza, Williams, Waites and McKinstry get cards as I think they would do well in the PDC. I also think people overstate how tough it is. When guys like terry Temple and Eddie Dootson can get cards it can’t be that tough. Players with genuine quality that have gone have always got through with the exception of Ratajski.

I wonder why some of those that are completely gone at the game like Newton, Osborne etc embarrass themselves by turning up. I’d have tuem a huge price to get a card.
