hi mate, yes the over rounds are deffo still tough aren't they. Did you get to those courses often, I had a couple of days at Wentworth 2 years on the trot and was going to go last year until Sheff Utd made the play off final that weekend.
I saw Pierre Fulke hit the best shot I ever saw live on the 18th at Wentworth, from the greenside bunker he spent 2 minutes with his caddy looking at a place to land the ball on the green and the putting line to the hole from there. He then landed it on the exact spot they were pointing at and got the break they had allowed for and it went in the hole. Was a magic moment.

Used to go every year to the PGA at Wentworth and the European Open at Sunningdale. I lived in Ascot so they were both super handy and I used to know how to get on the courses halfway round without paying (shhh don't tell anyone)
Remember a brilliant duel at Sunningdale between Andrew Murray and Frank Nobilo for the title. Everyone followed the group in front (think it was Seve and Langer - might have been Faldo) assuming the winner would come from those two. But Murray and Nobilo both shot like 68 and finished clear of the superstars.
Never really bothered with Matchplay - crowds were far too big and you couldn't see anything.
Preferred just having a punt on a quiet threeball in the morning and then taking advantage of tax free betting betting on the horses in the afternoon. Happy days.

sounds a perfect day that Keith, good old Frank Nobilo is abs stealing a living for the Golf Channel these days. I went to Southport with Athos Christodolou one year to watch the Ladies Open Championship and he asked me to pick an early start 3 ball for us to follow. So I chose some 6/4 shot in a bad group and at about 9 am we went to the first tee to follow the group, we watched them tee off and then went to the second green where our girl was already 1 over par and we were a bit miffed to find she was putting with her wedge. After holing out the caddie set off sprinting down the fairway as the group moved to the next tee. It turned out he had left the putter on the practice green.
She was fuming and 6 behind at the turn and we went for some lunch and I was gutted I had given him a loser, she came back on the back nine and was beaten by a shot. In the afternoon we were punting in the Hills shop on course and I didn't feel too bad about him losing 100 quid on my losing 3 ball bet when he was having 300 a race on the horses and Laura Davis was in there having about the same on per race too. Was an eye opening day for sure.

First time I ever went to a casino in the UK - the Golden Nugget on Shaftesbury Avenue - Laura was there punting away on the roulette at about £200 per spin.
Was pretty shocked!

LOL @ on course betting in the golf. I remember when I first worked for Victor Chandler and they secured the sponsorship of the PGA at Wentworth along with the on course betting facilities. The first or second year I went and popped into the on course facility to see one of my mates from the office that was working it. He had a face like thunder so I asked him what was wrong then I looked at the other side of the shop to see a certain Neil Channing and, I think, Murray Swan but I didnt know Keith then so he may well have been there having monkeys on horses at Southwell and the golf was rained off. My mate Don's words to me were "they told Victor this shop would make fortunes for him but what fucking chance have we got now!!!"

Fancies for this weekend chaps?
Shall be going back to Mr Howell again this week.nice short tight course which needs a good short game right up his street and gradually hitting top form. 33s looks nice.
Gonna have some random young guns at big prices in the states. Goes against the grain but may also back Westwood as this one is set up like the masters, got a sneaky feeling bout him this year even though he has been shit up to now!

Going to do nothing but sit on the settee and watch this week but have backed phillip price to be top welsh player tho all 4 players are so bad just making the cut could mean you win. Backed ramsey and ed mol earlier in the week but not sure they are any value now tbh.

The PGA used to finish on bank holiday Monday when there used to be about 12 meetings around the country.
Harry Findlay used to have £3000 on all the 1/6 shots in 3 and 4 runner novice chases and hurdles at Fakenham, Cartmel or wherever.

I think Ed Mol sacked his coach and joined up with Tiger's man Sean Foley.

He has. Last week could have been a flash in the pan but it might just be down to the new swing clicking str8 away, he has a bit of quality about him doesn't he if he has found his game again.

Yes he does Phil, very good putter too and not afraid to win.
I'm off to have a gander now I think you've talked me into throwing a dart.
Dart thrown at EdoardoM @ 30 in Morocco, and mini-darts on Tringale and Bae in Houston @ 95 and 240 respectively just in case.

He has safely negotiated the 4th. Sort of.
DOUBLE bogey at the Par 5 first
QUADRUPLE bogey at the Par 3 2nd.
QUINTUPLE bogey at the Par 4th 3rd.
TRIPLE bogey at the Par 4 4th.
Think he is due a regular bogey now.
