I don't mind a deal when it gets to the vinegar strokes with average stacks around 10BB, but the instant request for saver payments as soon as we're on the bubble just grinds.
I refuse when I'm short too.

I play a lot of these and not bragging but do make a few final tables.

People want to deal because usually when these tournaments go down to the FT the average is prob 7-8bb's and the CL will only have 20-25 and people say they don't want to "flip" for lots of money.

Rarely do I deal and the times I've said I want to play on I wasn't met with a lot of resistance, I think you should make it clear that you don't intend to deal once the FT starts not after you've just tripled and now have everyone crushed Smiley not saying you did this but just in case Wink

Normally when the FT starts and floor guy mentions deals I just say very politely "I hope nobody minds but I'd like to try and win this, you're more than welcome to deal when I bust" I think if you're friendly in your demeanour nobody should take offence.

Regarding the cashier side, never had any problems

Pretty much what I do and say to the word I have done many deals in past but never come away happy how are you suppose to gain exp of winning if always deal done is the line I take

I have no problem with taking 1BI off of 1st or equivalent to pay the bubble, I think that's good for the game.

How often have people refused deals and shipped it?

Only ever acceptable if it's agreed when you're one off the bubble and thus moving the bubble spot one place. Not good even then.

The bubble part of the tournament is a great chance to chip up put yourself in the best possible chance of winning the tournament so moving the position of the bubble can have a bigger impact than some people realise.

I have done deals both live and online. I have also refused deals both online and live and as others mentioned you just need to make sure you come over in the correct way. If the deal isn't in your best interests then don't be bullied into anything, you just have to politely get your point accross and get on with the game and win dem moniez! If you have a monster chip lead then try saying you will take 1st place money and they can do what they want with the rest. You will be surprised how often this sort of thing works as the difference for shorter stacks between money for next money out and what they get under the deal is significant. Would I would say is you should factor in the fact that you are potentially regularly playing some of these guys if you are playing lots of small tournaments at the same venue.

The 'Emperor of Final Table Deals' is a shifty character from Much Binding in the Marsh, in Fenlandshire, by the name of Graham Weld-On.

At his bi-annual appearance on a Luton G F/T - with four getting paid - he is to be seen rummaging around in his tatty 'de-mob rucksack' desperately searching for the 'tools of his trade'.

Players look on, totally bemused, at the sight of a rather tatty chap prostrating himself before them complete with knee-pads and a begging bowl, with "Please Sir, can I have some more?" scrawled along one side     ....    strains of 'If I were a rich man' belting out from his iPod in his panicked attempt to secure a nine way chop, or a minimum of five bubble prizes.

When Chompy 'negotiates' you can be sure he'll try to get a 'payout' for anyone within 100 metres      ....    it is rumoured that two valets, and Pina the Cleaner, filled the top three spots on one occasion recently.

How would you handle someone putting their black card face up on the table and encouraging others to do the same?
This happened at the end of a £5k gtd locally and the least experienced player was left, last to act as it were staring at three face up black cards ....

How I do it here, if a card is exposed (black or red) to anyone then no deal.

This happened a while ago when one of our local cardrooms introduced the red/black system. Everyone started throwing them in face-up saying that they were in agreement with a deal. I insisted that that they had to be returned face-down as that is the whole point of the system and the dealer (who had been accepting the face-up cards) then agreed and gave them back. They all put them back in face down and the dealer then showed a full set of the same colour in agreement with a deal. Although I didn't really want to do a deal, it wasn't worth burning my bridges for a small tournament, but it established a precedent that may be helpful to me at bigger events there in the future.
