if someone can afford to have a chunk of themself then a large markup is fine, when they are selling a massive chunk and also want a large markup without being one of about 3 people then they can gtfo.
it's funny that the worse the economy has got and the higher the variance/lower the winrates the higher the markups there are that are coming out. all backed up by the fact no one will ever know true w/r and that they are constantly changing.
if I feel someone is intentionally trying to offer a good value stake then I am infinitely more likely to invest.
so do I have this 10% of your mother dubai?
edit obv table draws are a part of the variance, and they can be so tilting, managed to get myself, mike ellis and 7 other 2+2 ers on day 2 of the main, it was such a farking joke. main discussion was of a 2+2 thread regarding 4 and 5 bet ranges. and the only hand that really went down of note was a collosal multi way squeezed pot to the turn, with the river getting heroed by Q4 or something ridic who just so happened to have been the squeezer too.
another table move I got was to a table where after I raised and won the first 5 pots, they all just essentially looked at me like 'ok just do what you gotta do we all want to cash' and I chipped up 3x stack with only 2 small showdowns, it was incred.
just before that table though I had managed to pay sb, pay bb move table to sb so pay sb then bb again move table to utg and so was blinds 6 out of 7 hands in a row in the main with a 30bb stack. I mean come on you twatties!! rofl
right expect my main event thread at 47.5 to be up soon

I'm not sure the buyers are there either. I've never played either but always assumed rightly or wrongly that Alex and Mitch are around the same level, Alex sold out quicker than Mitch so either everyone thinks he is better or it's a case of he sold before him therefore taking up a decent amount of the funds out there for staking on here. I'd assume the latter and would be interested in both their opinions etc

partially the latter, partially just results orientated fishyness of the poker world
remove the monte carlo scores and likelihood is it would sell out slower than mitchellina.
the main is such a big outlay as it is, to then have half the buyin again on top of each stake because of markup just takes so much out of the staking economy.

Main event shares poem.
Once upon a time,
I was due mad dime
So, I went on the web
and put up a thread
A stake thread I penned
for the twenty 13 main event
They said you're a boss playing live,
so charge a markup of one point five
I sold out in seconds,
now the sin city beckons
I hope we run deep,
as the markup was steep
if not I will say,
meh, ran bad on the day
hope the buyer doesn't feel like a sucker,
while im balls deep in this hooker,
thinking about what could have been..
GO TEAM.
So badly wanted to use variance but fuck all rhymes with variance.
Don't take it to heart,
it was only a joke
truth be told, i'm just broke

Was assuming both were pretty decent btw and would say both fine at 1.5 in ME, but yeah not sure resources are out there on here to support multiple main event threads. Will cancel my $111k one drop thread as planned

loved the variance line I thought the next line was going to rhyme with it lol.
this discussion is not based upon a singular thread, more upon the theme of everyone just copying this mu number and rofling about assuming that everyone deserves to sell out at that figure.

Dunno if if this is a veiled pop at me, feels like it is, maybe I'm just paranoid.
I made it clear I was only selling because I'm skint as I've ever been, just built a house and my bankroll is a fraction of what it used to be.
If I wasn't skint I wouldn't be selling, I would much rather swap (or buy) in the main event.
I think I'm value at 1.5 and in a normal year I'd buy a chunk of myself at that rate.
Just wait until you see my markup is going to be for the seniors!

It took mine 72 hours to sell out tbf so Mitch still has a few hours....
I think the main thing is that there's loads of people who have a budget for the world series and have spent theirs already and there's got to be a point where enough's enough.

A lot of staking threads have gone up recently, and most of them are for quite big chunks of money over a short period of time. Its not like its a bunch of people selling 20% each for a £440 GPS, they have all been WSOP Main or package deals. There is obviously only so much money to go round, and that before people start investing it in taking pieces of other people.
The speed at which mine has sold has not been a problem at all, and there has been a steady stream of people buying since it went up. If it doesnt sell out, thats fine, ill be playing anyway so im not going to lose any sleep over it or anything.
I appreciate some peoples comments about the 1.5 mark up, and agree this is getting towards the top of what people can sell for and expect to sell out. I do however feel i'm entitled just as much as anybody else selling at this price to do so.
I also feel, as mentioned somewhere else, that the experience in these sorts of events is pretty huge. Ive traveled quite a lot of the last 3 years or so and played poker all around the world at various buy-ins, with some of the best players and obviously some of the worst. The WSOP can be a daunting experience and i think theres a pretty good chance less experienced players can get caught up in the moment a bit, especially with the amounts of money involved. This is also my 6th time in Vegas so im pretty used to everything, how the locals play, how to plan breaks, layout of the Rio etc. Personally i agree with what Flushy said in Keith's thread, about much rather having a piece in somebody whos been there before, used to the structure, doesn't tilt etc than a guy whos got a few big results but hasnt played those sort of events on a regular basis.
