Interesting move:
Alban limps the button
Nick Hicks limps the SB
Julian Gardner folds.
The rail inform him of his error. He does not look impressed.

The flop comes     .

Alban bets 125K.

He says something along the lines of 'Thats an online move, limp then bet the flop from the button. Boom.'

depending on who makes the final 9 having two monster stacks makes it MORE likely there will be a deal imo.

It depends on what deals are allowed, can only see the big stacks pushing for a chip chop.  I wonder if the "Only ICM deal" is in place........

If a deal is discussed are they allowed to factor in the added money or does that still have to go to the eventual winner? Otherwise no point in dealing is there?

yh very true, if any type of deal is allowed then with the top heavy over-lay i could see the two big stacks securing a very good deal, but really depends how flexible the others are willing to be (as in will they take a "bad" deal in a bid to lock up a ton of extra money)

We are down to the final 9.

There will be a new seat draw and players will now have an hour dinner break.

To add to the excitment, all of the lights just went out...can't have been a power cut as the screen stayed on.

Not sure what happened there.

The final tomorrow is in a box overlooking the pitch, converted into a TV studio.

Six players, a TD and the dealer only.

Live streamed onto Huge screens in the Bobby Moore room and to everyone at home with ahalf hour delay.

It will begin at midday sharp.

Pete Linton is up to 9m and probable chip leader

He won a nice pot off Farhad Sayardi with J-8 in the small bind

check calling on 10-2--J-Q

Check check on the K river

Sayardi mucked before Linton even showed

--

I spoke to Pete (who upbraided me for misquoting him earlier. If I did, sorry.)

"This is a life's dream. It's my ambition to be a millionaire before I am thirty"

"How old are you Pete"

"29" comes the reply

I whisper

"Does that mean no deals Pete?"

He gives a slight grimace

"I will play it by ear......"

and none of that is a misquote!

With Alban and Linton having 17-18m of the 41m in play between them it doesn't sound like an early deal is in the offing does it?

Had a funny exchange with Pete at the WCOAP at DTD in April.

Pete won the High Roller, which was an open event, but he was a bit sheepish about the pictures that we take after with the winner & bracelet in front of the APAT banners.

Fair play though, with a bit of explanation he got into the spirit of it, stood there, smiled a smile and everyone was happy.

Fast forward twelve hours and I spot Pete at the cash desk buying into the main event.

'Hi Pete, good job last night, you back for more?'

'Yeah' says he, eyes scouring levels two or three of the cardroom trying to pick out his seat draw.

'Are you playing this?'

'Yes, should be good, how many players are you expecting?'

'We should make four to five hundred' I say....about to pose a delicate question.

'Say Pete...aren't you a pro?'

'Well, urm....what do you mean by a pro?'

'If you make your money just from playing poker, then we'd see you as a pro and this is an amateur event, so you wouldn't be able to play.'

'Aw, I've driven all the way over here to play, you're kidding?'

'Sorry Pete, we'll get asked lots of questions if you play, as will you at the tables.  The forum will be full of it.'

'But I came all the way across....'

'Sorry Pete'

Sighs as his buy in is pushed back across the counter

....'are there any other games going on?'

'yeah, we have a HORSE tournament just starting now.'

'HORSE?  Great, can I get a seat?'

'Are you a pro?'

Cue the stomp off.....nice guy and I hope he or Nick Hicks wins tomorrow, but I was still giggling a couple of hours later.

The ESPT got 63 runners

The £250 turbo ran yesterday I think

The £1k freezes have been getting 25-30 runners

Place is busy enough, I am not sure but suppose that is likely to be the case tomorrow too...depends who makes the final

people will be down if Peter or Nick make it?

Out of interest, why is the "final table" 6 handed and not 9 handed... I presume the rest of the tourney has been 9 or 10 handed?

Does the 6 handed final mean that the 7 handed bubble will be played across two tables, 3 and 4 handed, or will the tourney play on one table from 9 down?
