Pete Linton is up to 9m and probable chip leader
He won a nice pot off Farhad Sayardi with J-8 in the small bind
check calling on 10-2--J-Q

Sayardi mucked before Linton even showed

I spoke to Pete (who upbraided me for misquoting him earlier. If I did, sorry.)
"This is a life's dream. It's my ambition to be a millionaire before I am thirty"
"How old are you Pete"
"29" comes the reply
I whisper
"Does that mean no deals Pete?"
He gives a slight grimace
"I will play it by ear......"
and none of that is a misquote!
With Alban and Linton having 17-18m of the 41m in play between them it doesn't sound like an early deal is in the offing does it?
Had a funny exchange with Pete at the WCOAP at DTD in April.
Pete won the High Roller, which was an open event, but he was a bit sheepish about the pictures that we take after with the winner & bracelet in front of the APAT banners.
Fair play though, with a bit of explanation he got into the spirit of it, stood there, smiled a smile and everyone was happy.
Fast forward twelve hours and I spot Pete at the cash desk buying into the main event.
'Hi Pete, good job last night, you back for more?'
'Yeah' says he, eyes scouring levels two or three of the cardroom trying to pick out his seat draw.
'Are you playing this?'
'Yes, should be good, how many players are you expecting?'
'We should make four to five hundred' I say....about to pose a delicate question.
'Say Pete...aren't you a pro?'
'Well, urm....what do you mean by a pro?'
'If you make your money just from playing poker, then we'd see you as a pro and this is an amateur event, so you wouldn't be able to play.'
'Aw, I've driven all the way over here to play, you're kidding?'
'Sorry Pete, we'll get asked lots of questions if you play, as will you at the tables. The forum will be full of it.'
'But I came all the way across....'
'Sorry Pete'
Sighs as his buy in is pushed back across the counter
....'are there any other games going on?'
'yeah, we have a HORSE tournament just starting now.'
'HORSE? Great, can I get a seat?'
'Are you a pro?'
Cue the stomp off.....nice guy and I hope he or Nick Hicks wins tomorrow, but I was still giggling a couple of hours later.
