It is a double chance tournament at the Vic

2000 points twice, 30 minute clock and a running ante from 150-300 onwards...so a reasonably fast structure

It is the second level

I am UTG and see

It is already an aggressive table..people are not hanging around

I have my starting chips and limp

as luck would have it the cut off, button, small blind and BB all just limp/check...so I do not get the raise I was hoping for to thin the field

the flop is

I Lead out after checks from the blinds for 300 into a 500 pot

Only the cut off calls

a raggy blank turn

I bet 500, he calls

River theĀ

I have 1100 left, the pot is now 2100

I have a double chance card to take here if need be

all in? what size value bet? check? you are putting all your pre-double chance chips in here yes?

critically appraise the hand please...including the awful limp pre flop

Of course he hadĀ

One of the worst I have played in a while

i dont think ur limp was awful, u say it was an aggressive table, so limping was probably correct, u were just unlucky that noone raised, the flop is a scary one for ur hand, so maybe u coulda slowed down abit, i got k k in the bb last night late on, it was folded round to the sb who just limped, his limp showed weakness and i wasnt happy just getting the 4000 in blinds so i checked, the flop comes q 10 j , rainbow, he checks so i bet the pot, he calls. the river comes a 4. he checks so i take a free card with my k k and up and straight draw the river comes another 4, he bets the pot, by this time i have him for 2 pair so i reraise all in and he calls, my 2 pair kings and beat his queens and 10s, the point im trying to make is it is perfectly a good play to limp with big pairs utg at an aggressive table, ur just unlucky that noone took the bait.

where do you think you played it wrong?

I guess you are questioning the limp preflop, but just because it got limped around 'this time' doesn't mean that limping is incorrect, it just means that this time it didn't work out (which you have to expect if you are going for a higher variance play like limping with big pairs)

flop/turn/river play was all fine as far as i can see.

hey there m8

Limp is fine, as has been said u r just unlucky not to get a raise. Don't mind bet on flop although I probably bet about the pot here. After the call and the blank I go allin right here. Want the pot now. Whatever he is calling with, and from the play of the hand so far we really have no idea, it is likely that another card may hurt you, so I prefer allin on turn and force a really bad call from your opponent in order to get outdrawn.

I'd check call. If you bet, you probably won't get called by a hand you can beat. Also, if he doesn't have the straight, it gives him the opportunity to bluff or put in what he believes to be a value bet.

I dont think TE did anything wrong - he was having one of those nights where no one raised him when he wanted it. We played cash at the Vic after the comp on a fairly aggressive table and a player slightly the worse for wear came to the table. Need less to say he was welcomed with open arms as a loose and inexperienced player with money and every time TE had a hand matey boy chose to fold or flat call where as with everyone else he was betting the pot with nothing in his hand.

TE's face was a picture (well actually I couldnt see it beause he covered it with his hands in frystration!)  Cheesy
