Feel free to start 2015 - but you will have to post in it  aftertiming

I put a bit on Jordy to win a major this year at 11/2 - prob not huge in value but should be a good sweat.

Just to make everyone feel at home here:

I had a cockle on Reed in the get-out stakes @ 13.5 earlier.

Go on my cockle  aftertiming

I don't watch much golf these days, but I randomly watched the final round last night.

Bloody hell, the septics have two fearsome young competitors in Spieth and Reed. Their play in the final 6 holes/playoffs was little short of astounding.

Two or three more like them and Euro domination of the Ryder Cup might be coming to an end.

And as supplementary point, why are golf courses built to either favour a fader or a drawer?

Reed was obviously hampered as the course favoured players that move the ball the other way to him (he is a hooker I think)

Is it beyond the designers ken to build half the holes to favour each type of ball hitter?

The Masters is just a few weeks ahead, early markets are available.

Do we want a dedicated Masters thread, or better to leave it on the existing Official Golf Thread?

I think it was actually Uncle Dave who you quoted.

Ahh, so it was, apologies.

Same question to Grandpa David - or anyone else - then.

The natural lie of the land plays a big part in golf course design.  If I can manage to make the ball do an uncontrolled banana slice and a wild hook a top class pro should be able adapt to any course imo.

Thanks Tikay

updating from the original from *****OFFICIAL***** 2014 GOLF BETTING THREAD to *****OFFICIAL***** 2015 GOLF BETTING THREAD will presumably do the trick.

So, any early thoughts or value on The Masters?
