Pretty sure more than a few blondes normally go, but I'll be dipping in & out, viewing from the sofa.

Any recommendations as crucial viewing?

Pixies on Saturday should be good and I'm looking forward to Metallica too.  I shall probably have the program on in the background for most of it.

Bit embarrassing, didn't realise Blondie and Debbie were American!

^^^^ this.

Glasto always lets me see bands I like off the radio for the first time on screen. This year it was the Crystal Fighters, love their stuff, what a bunch of weirdos.

Kaiser Chiefs. How did that happen?

Wonder if they'll do their...er...absolutely brilliant version of Heard It Through the Grapevine.

Seriously. They did one.

It's somehow offensive to Motown, Indie and Ska at the same time.

I'm not a massive Kaiser Chiefs fan but they do put on a very good show.  One band I just don't get are Arcade Fire yet everyone raves about them.....

Arcade Fire are fantastic, particularly live.

Looking forward to seeing them again on Sunday, live in Dublin, supported by the Pixies.  Pretty much a dream line up for me!

Not sure my review of Glastonbury day 1 will be popular

- TV. Mark Radcliffe gets to top up his pension by presenting it again in his faux-blokey Mancunian style, whilst in the interview room someone called Greg and a woman i don't know struggle to string two sentences together. The main anecdote to demonstrate how much fun Glastonbury is is how the camera pointed at a security man not prepared to join in with a hands in the air thing and then he did it. They go to a woman in a very annoying estuary english accent who tells us, from the middle of a field, that someone had turned their spare tent into a toilet. Meanwhile the 10pm BBC2 show has Jo Whiley without a clue what is going on, missing prompts and grinning inanely. Radcliffe meanwhile tells us he never gets tired of the view from "up here". which you wouldn't, as you are being put up at the bbc's expense whilst everyone else sleeps in mud

the bands

- Elbow. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Guy Garvey comes on looking like a supply teacher (geography) and proceeds to sing 15 identical songs in a dull monotone whilst the rest of the band look half-arsed. the bass player who doubles up on the small keyboard appears to fall asleep at one point. They then encore with the one everyone knows but get the crowd to sing most of it. He asks for them to harmonise, and they do it better than the band itself does. they leave the stage no doubt to more mercury prize nominations for producing boring music to achingly trendy art students who don't really like them but have to because its fashionable

- Arcade Fire. Dreadful, boring. I divert myself by trying to work out if they have more people on the stage than there are in the crowd watching them. its close. as one commentator described "Arcade Fire are a bit like a one-man band on a jobshare"

- Kaiser Chiefs. School run mums choice Ricky off the voice bounces around for 90 minutes unaware that all the school mums are watching on the telly and the girls he is preening for are caked in mud and wearing cagouls

- Blondie. Brilliant, she still has it allowing for the reediness in the voice nowadays. classic songs

- Foster the people. stupid name, catchy tunes

- Interpol. How are things on the west coast? Mighty fine from where i sat

- Rudimental. Congratulations to the deity who cut their set short with an electrical storm. Proof that there is a God

- Lily Allen. nice legs, nice pants. she was on stage with four backing singers in dog masks dancing in front of giant baby bottles. Odd. Bonus points for managing to libel sepp blatter, apparently. She walked out on greg someone and unknown woman in post set interview, but still doesn't do mock outrage as well as her dad

- paolo ntini. good show, not my thing but undeniably a good set. not sure he's quite got the clout for mid evening on a main stage though. bit too "nice"

- Jungle. never heard of them, not my thing but enjoyed it actually. will check them out more

Not a big music person at all so my opinion means nothing as i am more likely to set fire to £50 notes than ever attend Glast but didn't get Arcade Fire either.  Didn't come across as a headline act to me for a Friday night.  At times i was waiting for security to get on the stage as it looked like there had been an invasion from the crowd several times.  Several of the 'band members' on stage looked like 1980/90s WWE superstars with their face paint.
