http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2681171/Parents-fury-teacher-poses-gun-hunt-goes-killer.html

This is an article which I have just been shown on Facebook, and it has angered me as much as anything I think I've ever read in the news. Now, I don't think what he's done is particularly bad, a little insensitive and a little silly maybe, but not a bad thing. I have a different reason for posting this, which highlights my disgust with the Daily Mail as a source of news. Despite absolutely no evidence, this article clearly suggests that Mr. Rawlings is a pedophile. It comments on him having several students as facebook friends, as well as this particularly wonderful line "Photos on the [facebook] page include one of the teacher in swimming trunks." Not only are these details completely irrelevant to the actual "story", and a disgusting attempt at defacing a mans character with absolutely no cause to do so, but the paper is potentially dramatically influencing his current and future employment prospects, in the current climate, both his and his family's safety.

Cliffs - Don't read the Daily Mail, and if you do, don't believe a word it prints. My sympathies to Mr. Rawlings and his family.

All teachers are 'strongly advised' to avoid any kind of social media contact with pupils. He's been naive undoubtedly, but the tone of the piece is completely inappropriate as Rexas says. Some of the comments below the article are also worrying.

what a shocking excuse for 'journalism.'

No connection whatsoever between the stupid photo and the local murders.
And although he shouldn't 'friend' his pupils for professional reasons, the mention of photos of him in swimming trunks, as said already, is clearly a veiled accusation of sexual impropriety with no foundation.

Just an utterly ridiculous publication....the only time I have picked it up in event years is when on a BA flight as it's their paper of choice, and each time I do so am utterly disgusted and say I'll never make the same mistake again.  What kind if w****** read it, as everyone I know would never admit to it.

I read the Telegraph/Independent most of the time, but always amuses me when someone declares the readership of the paper with the 2nd biggest circulation in the UK are all "w******".    Seems an absurd over reaction.

Occasionally I'll read the Mail or the equally comical Guardian if there is nothing else to hand.  I'd hope you didn't think me a "w*****" just because I happened to be reading it.
