Right wing is propaganda and left wing is the only correct way.....alright son

That doesn´t even come close to making sense. First four words are a horror show. Maybe a ninja edit is in order?

OK I´ll try and explain.

Right wing is a position on the political spectrum, propaganda is the dissemination of information to achieve a specific goal, rightly or wrongly the word has come to imply an attempt to mislead (that last bit is irrelevant). Any statement that one is the other is flawed. At best it´s very poor English. Is English your first language?

You don't need to explain anything smarty pants.

I was just laughing at your comment about the right wing stuff being propaganda and you agreeing with the left stuff, not that I'd expect you to say anything else Mr one eyed. In fact both sides are full of propaganda in reality.

I was really good friends with Alex Martin for years. We went separate ways when he became a balla and I became an environmental engineering consultant. I´ve played quite a bit of poker with Tighty, Chompy, Celtic, Pizzled, Nirvana, Claw etc. although they might only have known me as Alex´s mate and not by my blondepoker name. I´m always impressed by the intellect on this forum compared to most of the rest of the internet and a few beers with some of the regs at some stage would be fun.

ok cool.  Agree on this forum.  Would be a massive shame if it ever closed down.  The level of discussion on here in between all the sulks and rants is top quality compared to anything i have ever ecountered across a huge range of subjects.

Anyway back to business.  Woodsey must be pissed up by now and ready to defend Sir Dave to the hilt!  I am virtually sober tonight so will sit back and listen to Woodsey.

My argument wasn't built around food banks, that was just an illustration. Bad refernce on my part, that one was easy to jump on Smiley

My point was that the latest cuts aren't going to come from the poorest, because they've already been squeezed. My point was that there are millions of middle and low income people that will go to the polls to vote Conservative and in doing so will be hurting themselves at the expense of the richest in the country, and that they'll be supporting an approach to running the 6th largest economy in the world like they do their household budgets as if they are remotely the same thing.

It seems fairly odd to to me that a lot of Tory supporters that hold right of centre but not far right views struggle with the concept of a left of centre but not far left view. Any talk of equality is jumped on like we're arguing for an idealist, communist state which I assume the China and Russia references were angled at. A proper discussion without the communism or about a guy not being eligible for a job because he slipped on a step would be nice.

I have a left leaning view but I agree with you that wealth creators and drivers of economic growth that benefits everyone should be the wealthiest. I agree that people who don't want to contribute should be the poorest. I agree with the bedroom tax and I agree that the Blair and Brown governments should be held responsible for allowing the welfare system to slide into a position that made it easily exploitable.

I wouldn't disagree that everyone acts pretty much in their own self interest. I'm just sort of standing back and marveling at how the Conservative party have been able to convince millions of people that voting Conservative is in their best interest when in reality they are just making things harder for themselves.

The problem with leftie thinking is it's ideological, it works beautifully in theory. Back in the real world people are pretty selfish so things get more complex. An eg of this ideology is building an argument around the 'use of food banks' because half the people using them don't do so out of necessity. Free food means there's money for fags and cider. Build an argument around how many people starve to death in the UK and it will grab my attention, not interested in hearing how many people play the system.

The next problem is how we pay for all the great public spending? Labour spewed borrowed cash on these aspirations and now refuse to admit they over spent. In an ideal world you have unlimited money you see so Labour simply cannot be trusted with the economy. Hmmm so where do we get the cash? Tax the rich? Problem is the rich are mobile and they will simply do one somewhere else. Now how do you pay for all great public spending?

Anyway my question to labour voters is why do you want Britain to be Russia or China's bitch just so food bank users can buy a bottle of white lightning?

Oh & see Miliband stumble off the stage, fckin rofl, euro leaders would give him an absolute pasting around the negotiating table

Another great post Dan, you must read the The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists by Robert Tressell, it´s great and it makes me think (like your posts do) that all a socialist is is a normal person with a highly developed sense of right and wrong.
