It also seems that the major Lib Dem seat losses have ended up going to the Conservatives.

You'd assume that Lib Dem would go to Labour.

Very strange stuff.

Lib dem seats have always been mainly in relatively wealthy areas, where the natural opposition is the Conservative party, just simply more marginals to win. For example Sheffield Hallam has the highest average wage of anywhere in the Uk outside of the south East and was a Tory seat pre 1997.

Stockton South has been represented by an MP from the ruling party in every election since 1979 or some such statistic.
Conservative hold with a 7.8% increase in votes and majority up from 322 to a touch over 5,000.

UKIP also up 7.7%, seems Libs and Labs votes got shared between them.

Kind of wierd how quickly politics changes.

10 years ago - if a party won by a majority of two it would be turmoil. Could they govern? Do they have a mandate?

Now - Tories win with a minority Government or a tiny majority and it's a glorious victory!

My Twitter feed is convinced that people have voted the wrong way, I am not sure if they would prefer brainwashing or dictatorship to correct this.

Yes but it's not 10 years ago, it's now.

In terms of expectations with the rise of other parties, this is a stunning result.

Britain is utterly divided.

The UKIP vote is horrifying.

I gather you live in the middle of nowhere Keith. Maybe that's why you find it so horrifying. #untouchedbyrealworld.

Result aside, why would anyone pay anything to any poll company in the future? That industry has been destroyed.  Either they are useless, or the sample lies.  Either way - they are a waste of time?

Depends on where Labour stood. In my constituency Lib Dems held a 3k lead over Cons. No other party close. Due to Lib Dems getting in bed with the Cons and looking at Social media, it appears a lot of votes went to UKIP this time round.
Cons retook the seat with a 700 majority. I thought the Lib dem would piss it tbh

Think it's just an inherent selection bias in the polling. Conservative voters are a bit shy about declaring it, Labour voters are very vocal about it. If you would have taken my tweeter and facebook's feed as anything to go by, Labour were going to smash it. Think that will always be the case with polls.
