Had to smile when the Labour Party said they would need a 10 year plan to put right the coalition government's policies.

That from a party that led us in Government completely unprepared and debt ridden into the worst economic crisis in 70 years and then berated the coalition for 3 years with no growth.

They created the largest dependency culture we have ever known with an out of control welfare bill, ran up record debt levels, sold off our gold assets at rock bottom prices and still want us to be believe they have any creditability.

What a joke they are.

Has there been one genuine round of applause yet for red ed?  God this is dull.  He might as well put a video of last year's speech on it sounds just the same.  Name dropped mythical hard working people, the NHS, armed forces.

Labour need a new leader asap.

This one could be a cracker.  We should run a fantasy league for the next 9 months.

Make front cover of Mail = 2 points
Avoid question in interview more than five times = 3 points
Say "Romanian" more than three times in single interview = 4 points
Get caught telling an absolute porker in interview = 5 points
Win a televised debate = 10 points
Call member of electorate either "bigot" or "racist" = 20 points
Punch member of electorate = 50 points

Ed tell me what you are going to do to change the country and sort out the mess you build over 15 years?  30 mins and not a word about what you are going to do just negative stuff/jokes about Cameron and Clegg.

This min wage of £8/hr in 2020 is a comical headline 'policy'.  It would be close to £8 an hour just falling in line with inflation by the time 2020 arrives.  If you want to fool the less informed working class type with a headline you might as well say the minimum wage will be £20 an hour in 2050!

Labour are a mess, despite the fact that the referendum up here went against us Labour areas turned out in force for yes, sadly the quiet majority the elderly and traditional tory voters turned out in bigger numbers.

I said on the Referendum thread I would be laying Labour for most seats.  The Tories might well be *****, and look after nobody but themselves, but at least they are fairly honest about it.  Milliband and his band of half assed politicians who'd struggle to win a debate with a decent mordern studies pupil.   They are absolutely appalling.

My predictions are Tories holdback on giving any greater powers to Scottish Parliament and Dave fights the election on maintaining the union and trying to provide further home rule for England.  In turn this will mean tories win middle England and win a share of UKIP job.  In Scotland I think both Labour and Lib Dems are done for.  I expect a working-class rebellion up here and also for the tories to increase their share of the vote, and maybe even get a 2 or 3 more seats.

Regardless of who gets in, the system is fucked and I hope we can all agree on that.

Predictions:

  • This autumn Cameron ousted by Tory rebellion
  • George Osbourne elected leader
  • Ed Milliband and half of Shadow Cabinet promptly die laughing
  • Osbourne removed as Tory leader and replaced by the corpse of Maggie Thatcher, operated as a marionette by Boris Johnson
  • Gordon Brown returns as Labour leader after defeating Ed Balls in MMA cage match at Wembley Stadium
  • Leader's debates in GE campaign descend into farce as participants fling faeces at each other and David Dimbleby
  • In ensuing chaos Alex Salmond leads Norwegian-backed Scottish milita south of the border and captures territory as far south as Sheffield
  • Arsenal finish 4th in Premier League

Can't agree with this one, esp as he would only need to take out one eye.

Party leader speeches are generally meh nowadays, imagine the Cameron and Clegg ones will be just as vacuous (though hopefully not as long!).

As a ex Labour member and still Labour voter can't say I'm inspired much and wouldn't be terribly surprised if Labour falls short in 2015.

Agree.  Wish they would leave all the wife nonsense out of the speeches as well.  We all know they are 'happily married'.  We don't need to see it when they are at work.  No one else takes their missus to work with them.

You have to wonder how they have been promoted to such roles so quick?

The scary, but quite possibly true, reason is she's better than the blokes.

I agree i think this Labour shadow cabinet is as light weight as any i can ever remember.

I think by their nature Shadow cabinets always look lightweight. Looking forward to this thread. Don't think I've ever been able to name so few cab or shadow cab members. Feel so disconnected from politics but time to engage. Too many Hitlerites likely to be running next year to idly stand by (did I win this category ?)

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/let-me-list-everything-and-anything-that-was-positive-about-ed-milibands-speech-9751433.html

These conferences are impossible to watch. I wonder if they "pay off" in terms of impact against cost of running them?
