These conferences are impossible to watch. I wonder if they "pay off" in terms of impact against cost of running them?

You have to wonder how they have been promoted to such roles so quick?

The scary, but quite possibly true, reason is she's better than the blokes.

I agree i think this Labour shadow cabinet is as light weight as any i can ever remember.

I think by their nature Shadow cabinets always look lightweight. Looking forward to this thread. Don't think I've ever been able to name so few cab or shadow cab members. Feel so disconnected from politics but time to engage. Too many Hitlerites likely to be running next year to idly stand by (did I win this category ?)

You're such a quisling

lol, used to listen to loads of Irish Nationalist music, me and my fellow travellers were Kmac max with respect to accusing people of being quislings

Nationalist music.  Was that the Stoops and Shinners having a bit of Karaoke whilst toasting big Ian?

Constitutional Nationalism has failed and has copper fastened the North of Ireland to the UK.

My pet hate and target for now is Margaret Curran, she of Irish ethenticity who when campaigningin Catholic areas over the years has played the Irish Catholic card,it resonates with many inthe poorest parts of Glasgow, then of Course this is Margaret who flirted with many different brands of politics.  I have known Margaret for a number of years and  have fought alongside her for residents in the East End of Glasgow on occasions.  Imagine my surprise when I found out her expenses claims amounted to nearly £200k, it's nae wonder why she never wanted the gravy train to Westminister to continue.  Semi tempted to stand as an independent against her in the General Election.  But despite my misgivings of the SNP and this united front that's been proposed by some up here,I may also throw my weight fully behind that in order to oust her.

I watched all of Millibands speech today, and dear of dear it was dross followed by dross  followed by banal promises that won't see anyone any better off, and the fact he trys to ampathise with the poor, needy and less fortunate turns my stomach because we all know its champagne socialism he has no idea what it's like to struglle he has led  such a sheltered and comfortable life.  I think to understand how someone else copes in life you at least need to walk in their shoes even if part of the way.

As much as I detest Westminister and everything it stands for I appreciate we want the best people for the job but looking at the two main parties can we say we are getting the best people for the jobs?  It seems that the front benches of both parties are populated by former public schoolboys who went to either oxford or cambridge, graduated took up some sort of political research job then were capitulated into a safe seat but haven't lived any sort of life.  I have heard people saying they want best peoplefor the job before,I don't have issues with that per say, but I don't think having people who have very little real life experience is getting the best for the job.

It comes as no wonder that the UK is in the shit.  1.4 trillion debt and rising. Next crisis can't be far round the corner.

Pretty bizarre when they are basically the top political issues, no wonder he's got no chance next year  Smiley

A bit odd for them to combine two separate issues, Race Relations and Immigration, into one score. No doubt Immigration would have figured, but topping it up with a different issue is misleading.

There is no mention of 'Deficit reduction' in that link, that is merely your own interpretation.

It would seem perfectly reasonable to include it under economy. Either way labour still have no chance next year with millidonkey in charge, I hope he stays in charge

I'm sure it was included.
An almost incredibly underwhelming speech.

'No chance' of what though?

For having no chance quite incredibly they are odds on still to get the most seats! Quite incredible how low this country is sinking.  Where are the old fashioned style leaders with balls. I would rather have hezza in charge of the Tories than Cameron. Milliband is just a joke. It's not hard to see why ukip are gaining followers but it's mainly because the big two parties are showing no leadership.
