After such a great season I was a tad disappointed with finale. Didn't make a lot of sense to me.
Why if the saviours are so many in number did they just not attack Alexandria?

Also as there seemed to more people blockading them each time they took a different route why not go back to the first one and just plough through the half dozen numpties there?

Made no sense at all the first time they got blocked that they didn't just shoot them all. Pretty sure they've smashed much worse in the past without a seconds thought.

What was the point taking all of the best fighters to then pussy out at the first sign of trouble? Obviously they just want all the main characters in the line up for the suspense but it just made no sense.

Agreed.

The season has got an average score of 8+ on IMDB but this last episode only achieved 5.6.

I definitely didn't expect it.  Knew it was glenn from the comics but once abraham was killed i thought that was it.

Thought carls arm was coming off too.

Hated it.

Too bleak to be enjoyable. The deaths themselves were disgusting, I get were supposed to be desensitized to this but am I supposed to be able to watch a guys head get smashed in such a gratuitous way and think it's great tv? An hour of pure misery.

Rick getting dragged off in the RV for ages was just plain boring. Glenn fake out death and then killed like this is laughable.

Final scene around the table actually made me laugh. I mean really.

Who did negan kill!

Did he kill anyone at all? Said he was just going to beat the shit out of someone.....

They handled the first whack so I'm guessing at the ginger. He can take a punch that guy.

Winning.

It really is shit now unfortunately but I'm in for the duration same as with so many other series.

Hopefully this is the last one I have to put up with.

It was extremely harrowing to watch, but that's a good thing.
It's a zombie apocalypse horror series. It's supposed to be a rough ride.
Dreading and looking forward to next week in equal measures.

If that's your view how did you manage to get through Dale's guts coming out, the Terminus baseball bat scene or Glenn pulling out a walkers spine and stabbing somebody with it? It's a horror show.

It was a brutal episode but they do kinda have to raise that particular bar. I think it really helped to sell how broken Rick is and how much tougher this villain is compared to a Governer type.

I have never found the gore an issue, I didn't know I could feel like that about something being 'too gory' to be honest. I am sure that's what the writers were going for - the shock effect and to separate him from just being another 'Governor'. Just a personal thing that crossed the line for me as being too brutal.

Aside from that, I just don't think the writing is any good. The reason they have had to revert to that sort of torture porn episode to keep people interested is telling in itself. There are no nuances to the show any more, that scene where all the characters were getting fake bonked on the head to keep us guessing. It's X Factor style story telling that makes for good clickbait.

Everyone at work loved it so what do I know. I just don't enjoy it enough to watch it anymore.

Fair enough.

FYI I think the writing has always been super clumsy the way they get from one major plot point to another. Stretching the governer story another season being one, and the cliffhanger here being another.

Did you know,. however, that this scene is pretty much what happened in the comics five years ago? Exact same thing happened to Glenn in the same story. That shouldn't change your view but figured it might interest you to know that this scene wasn't plucked from thin air to shock everyone.

Disagree with Matthew, I think the show is great and last season was one of the best! But yeah, I didn't enjoy this episode much, and not just because Abraham was my 2nd favourite character (kill Daryl and I'm out).

It just seemed a bit too much, it left me with a similar feeling to when I watched the ISIS beheadings on you tube. I mean, its a good point made by AdamM that its a zombie apocalypse horror series so its supposed to be a rough ride, maybe I forgot that a little bit and this certainly served as a reminder.

Obviously this episode should have been the last one of the last season. It didn't have quite the same impact having had almost a year away from the characters who perished.
