Way too slow on this, but Primal Scream.

Primarily for Screamadelica which has somehow become some sort of pioneering indie dance crossover record.  Two years after wrote for luck, a year after fools gold, and after New Order released Technique and long after Blue Monday.

The Pet Shop Boys were more pioneering, you can add them to the list too, but definitely below Bobby Gillespie's crew.

Meh.

Elvis

Absolutely this.

Went to the Elvis CdS show in Vgeas, was really looking forward to it.

But when you get beyond the myth, there are very very few top quality songs.

Just alot of meh.

I think that's the case with most of the 'greats', if they show a clip on TV of them they'll have really good music from them to back it up. But once you get beyond that you might get a few 'okay' ones - but after that it all gets a bit mediocre.

Is it ok if we like lots of stuff when it's live, even though we might not play it ever at home?

Ocean Colour Scene was the best live band I've ever seen. Would never listen to a song of theirs at home

They were below average when I saw them a few years ago. The year before it was just two of them doing an acoustic gig. They were very good.

Half the bands or singers people have mentioned you're supposed not to like surely?

We've done this before but the Stone Roses and Ian Brown on his own. Meant to be incredible and created seminal albums. They're OK, but don't get me that excited.

A band I'm supposed to like are the Manic Street Preachers, mainly because they were one of my favourite bands pretty much up to the point Richey went missing. A lot of their stuff after that is just painful to listen to.

Actually you just reminded me, the Stone Roses.

Never liked them, every single one of my male friends loves them and assumes I do the same.

Elvis

This

Although "times were different then "  lyrics like this are hardly genius

"I don't wanna be a tiger
Cause tigers play too rough
I don't wanna be a lion
Cause lions ain't the kind
you love enough."

Elvis was a good looking guy who performed well to a new niche market of adolescent screaming girls

I think a lot of dislikes or preferences could be dictated by mood or certain periods in ones life

Groups such as Floyd,The Doors,Massive Attack,Radiohead and Led Zep etc are not the most up beat with their lyrics but they have delivered some classic tunes

One of my favourite groups of all times are the Smiths .Morrisey is a literary genius and his melodramas and irony are both clever and extremely funny

That said if I've just been done by a two outer or a last minute equaliser I'm not likely to reach for a copy of " Girlfriend in a Coma "
