Euro zone GDP +2.2% in Q2, the highest in over 6 years. Annual rate of growth has only been higher once (Q1, 2011) since the crisis.

Logically you would expect business to be cost cutting, battening down the hatches if an economic disaster is round the corner?

Seems to me like they have been?

Watering down of employment terms to zero hours and short term contracts seems like a handy way to insulate your balance sheet from a demand side shock






Not sure this makes sense.

Recruiting staff costs money. Training staff to do a job costs money.

The number of zero hours contracts has fallen in the last 12 months and the jobs being created are full time positions.
