Brexiteers won’t like to admit it, but removing EU citizens was a key part of Vote Leave’s campaign

http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/12/brexiteers-wont-admit-removing-eu-migrants-key-part-vote-leaves-campaign/

Doubt that was a majority, controlling new entries sure, but not convinced removal of people here was high on manys list.

Doesn't really matter about the truth or otherwise it's just a bad piece from a guy too pleased with the words he uses.

tbf, we don't really need to worry because if we trig on art 50, this country will be a wasteland and the Eastern European peeps will all head for where the jobs are in er...eastern Europe, er no, southern Europe, er no, er I know, Germany. Good luck Angela

Sarah Olney (Liberal Democrats) 20,510
Zac Goldsmith (Independent) 18,638
Christian Wolmar (Labour Party) 1,515

richmond park by-election

not great news for Labour (LD revival in pro-remain seat, UKIP coming after them in leave areas) or the Conservatives (small majority lowered, lots of LD/Tory marginals in the south up for grabs especially if Brexit implementation is tough)

David Davis gives another Brexit hint, says govt will guard against labour shortages - business need for EU migrants will trump euref promises

not sure that is going to go down well in some leave quarters, but it was never an argument put clearly enough by remain pre 23-jun, the economic case for immigration

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

The racists who supplied the votes to ensure Leave won are going to suffer the pain from the erosion of rights leaving the EU entails and they aren't even going to get the satisfaction of seeing the back of Johnny Foreigner.

FYI

These MPs, like Zac Goldsmith, backed Leave but represent places which (probably) backed Remain.

I think Nuttall will find that the position of Labour Destroyer-in-Chief has already been filled.

Richmond was the first time since 1909 that Labour recorded less than 5% in a London by-election

granted, just about the least fertile Labour constituency, but still....

You appear to be very blinkered. Voting remain is a huge vote for perpetuating the capitalist status quo, supporting working class wage depression and a vote for the largest mass exploitation  of migrant workers in our history. The fact that the leavers want to perpetuate this too is quite ironic

Hands up..who knew nothing would actually change to benefit the working man
