Nothing new, many change their minds when they start to earn a few quid. I'd vote for the communist party if I was 18 and I was promised free uni compared to £30k+ debt.....

Over the years I have seen many friends change their political views as they look to protect the wealth they have accumulated.

ALL were well educated.....it didn't protect them, therefore, from what I guess you would call greed, either!

My thinking is that it was almost certainly a feature in the past but that post 2008, post Brown, post Cameron, post May far fewer people get wealthier as they get older. Even fewer again see an option in government that they truly trust to protect their wealth if they do. This gets outweighed by other factors, nearly all of which sit more comfortably with other political parties. The high profile exception atm being Brexit, seems to me like a UKIP resurgence with Farage back in charge is on the cards, May can't really deliver Brexit now.

Yep, not my finest offering. One I'd like to take back if I could. Overall I think my standards are pretty high. We just disagree on a ton of stuff, not sure that means I have low standards.

Surely even if they get in, they don't last if they keep that manifesto.  They either cause economic problems* or massively let down big groups of people, who will then turn on them.  People still go on about the Lib Dems and Univesity Fees even though they were the minority partner.

I think it's far more likely they increase tax more for the rich than fail to deliver their manifesto pledges.

Axing tuition fees is the obvious one. But putting utilities back into public ownership (obv won't say they are nationalising them) is another possibility.
